Dropped in (up?) on this trig after seeing flying display at Yorkshire air show: the Vulcan was magnificent, its penultimate display I was told. Trig was quite easy to find, parked in tractor gap off the main road and walked up recently harrowed field aiming for the solitary tree at the top with the trig nearby. Trig in VERY GOOD condition brightly painted white (thanks, RockKnocker and crew) with good views all round, particularly S and E with power stations in the distance. Could see Church Fenton airfield to the E with hot air balloon preparing for sunset take off, and what a great sunset it was. Maybe there should be a category 'Very Good' for trigpoints in this condition. What do you think?

Trig located under a solitary tree on Towton moor. Best approached from the west to avoid crop damage. This was the site of the battle of Towton, 28 March 1461, reputedly the bloodiest battle held on English soil. Memorial and display board just up the road. The Yorkists won that encounter but today, York City were relegated.
