Membership to National Trust allows me FOC parking at Curbar Gap car park. Easy navigation on well defined paths. Pillar stands proud amongst the gritstone edge. It shows the last vestige of white coat of paint. 360 panoramic views. Spider plug has a tar infill and flush bracket faces west. At carpark a lovely boundary stone immediately on entering access land. I ventured east of pillar to explore ancient field systems possibly iron age. I observed 4 deer. A lovely day.

1st of a 10 mile 2 trig hike. Started from Grindleford Train Station. Followed the paths through Oak's wood & Hay wood. Then up onto White Edge Ridge. Fantastic walk up and rewarded with spectacular views. Trig in good condition. From there I headed west to Curbar Edge. Next stop, Eyam Village.

One of three trigs bagged today. Took the ascent from Curbar via Curbar Gap between Curbar and Baslow Edge to White Edge and the pillar. It's generally in good condition but the centre of the spider has been filled with concrete or similar.

9km walk from car park near Curbar, along Curbar Edge to Froggatt Edge then along White Edge. The trig is just off from the main path.

(2188) After a revisit to the 'plague village' of Eyam, it was time to head out to this pillar. Parked on Clodhall Lane, and walked up to the NT carpark, and then followed the dry stone wall route (BM hunting) up to the pillar. A good steady half hour or so walk. Fog now lifted, so views was once again back on the menu. A very pebbly pillar still largely sporting its white coat of paint. Centre cap non original - all else good. Pillar history: Built on the 5th of July 1938, at a cost of £6 6s 0d. Last maintained by the OS in May of 1983.

A very old friend and it is always a delight to visit, lots of snow on the ground. There was a fair amount of footfall around the pillar. Walked White Edge before returning along Froggart and Curber edge. Spectacular in the sun and snow. Gifting to Buffalo mittens, best on the market and the only glove I would recommend.

They should just give me this trig pillar and have done with it :) Visited twice during afternoon/evening walk taking in a bit of deer-bothering. Arrived at trig after spending half and hour watching the deer though binocs - herd totalling 65 animals! Headed north across the rough stuff and revisited on the return leg when it was dark. Close encounter with dozens of deer on the way up - could see their eyes reflecting my head torch. There is a mouse living in the little hole at the base of the east-facing side of the trig. I hereby name this mouse Whitey.

Lost count of how many times I've visited this one (in fact the preceding log has a pic of my dog perched on top of it) but always a pleasure. Night time visit, cold (sub zero) and windy, wild camped about 500m NW along the ridge. Almost a full moon, enough ambient light to turn the headtorch off, saw the silhouettes of a couple of deer. Sheffield lights twinkling on the distance.

Last visited Trig in 2011, this time set off from Longshaw Estate, ending our week in the Peak District with good 9 1/2 mile walk along White Edge to visit Trig. We continued on down to Curbar Gap then back along the rocky edges of Curbar & Froggatt. Whilst close to Trig could see in the distance two rutting Stags.

Parked at side of road near NT car park. Then took a direct route to trig through fields, half way through a bull appeared, so veered off and hopped over a gate and up through boggy ground to ridge. Bagged trig then followed the ridge back to car. Great views and nice sunny weather.

Parked in the climbers' (?) car park. (Is this ethical? I'm spending over ten quid a week in NHS car parks, so I'm a bit strapped!) Anti-clockwise to the pillar which had OK views, but the swifts etc have obviously gone. The place was alive with midges, flying ants and all sorts of airbourne creepy crawlies. No wind today then. Shortly north of the pillar we struck west to gain the edge path back to the road. Not sure I saw a climber. Has Curbar gone out of fashion?

Walked up from Curbar Gap. Fine day with loads of people out, almost shirtsleeves weather. Great views from up here. Found one geocache here and the walked across the moors to the guide-stoop about 900 metres away. Saw about 30 deer on my way back.

South-west from trig at Flask Edge, crossed B6045 then followed track beside Bar Brook to a small lake at SK 276 761. From there I had intended to head straight across Big Moor to White Edge trig but the bracken was chest high and the ground deeply rutted so I instead picked up a path to the west of Swine Sty. One of the whitest trigs I've seen !! Continued along White Edge where I saw three deer. Entered Longshaw Estate at Wooden Pole and back to the car at Fox House Inn. There are easier routes to this trig !!

Walked up from Stoney Middleton. A scramble up and over Froggatt Edge, took a compass bearing (though clear, the pillar is not visible from there) and a hard slog over the moor to White Edge. There are definitely easier ways to approach!

A good walk from the Grouse Inn down Froggatt Edge/Curbar Edge then back up White Edge to the trig. Great views, esp S. down the Derwent Valley. Back to the Grouse through the Longshaw Estate for a good pint of Banks's bitter.(Only just made it: it shuts at 3.00p.m.)

Very visible and easily accessible. I came up from the car park at Curbar Gap [or rather the road - parking charges introduced since I was last here] and followed path up to trig. Superb views on a day when you could see for ever. Concrete plug otherwise in excellent condition.

Made a late choice of walk whlst driving to the Peak District with friends so no oppotunity to plan for trigs or caches but spotted this one on the map and pursuaded my friends to make a detour off the edge to it.

Bagged whilst doing geocache GCKECB. Very quiet and tranquil up here this evening - the 360 degree views are superb. I’ve marked this as ‘Slightly Damaged’ because the centre plug is missing and has been filled in with concrete.

Recently been painted and is very white. Can been seen from about half a mile away. The painting on one side is not completly finished but I do hope they will finish the job some day. Slightly murky but still good veiws of the Peak and Sheffield.
