Short walk up from graveyard car park. Dry but chilly wind. Went down to small isle to see the remains of the broch. Counted about 12 seals in the water nearby.

A quick morning walk to blow the cobwebs away before catching the ferry across to Bressay. I parked in the new car park below Brekk and then through the gate and up the steep hillside. Pillar in great position but not quite as spectacularly set as some others I'd seen in the last couple of days. Hotine pillar; FB faces SSW; all sightholes open except WNW which is plugged; nice original cap with raised letters.

Started from kirk and traveled to ridge via gate just up road. traversed ridge to trig. No cows or bulls to worry about! Good views up Stromness Voe and out to west.

My walk to here took me from Banna Minn on West Burra, through Scalloway village and then around Whiteness Voe. A herd of cattle were overseeing the gate, but they soon stomped off as I climbed over. I found the trig pillar to be in satisfactory condition and the views over West Shetland were very good. I came back down the same way and then retraced my steps back to the excellent Böd of Nesbister where I stayed the night.

Couldn't attempt this trig as the bottom of the hill had a locked gate and signs saying danger (the hill was very steep). Couldn't see the trig from the road.
