A fine way to end an afternoon round; this pillar sits just off a main road in a strange hillside grass verge - residents have clearly adopted the verges, it's a very nice spot. Easy roadside parking. This pillar is in excellent shape with fresh paint, although the foundations are slightly exposed due to the angle of the ground. The proximity of the pillar to the pavement means you can record without having to step foot on anyone's carefully-tended plants. A lovely, unusual trig, and obviously well-cared for.

(1336) Had meant to bag this one last year, but I ran out of time, so making amends today. A nice 'quirky' one. Easy parking on the main road. Pillar looking good, with paint work still decent. Immediate area fairly tidy. Pillar history: Built on the 19th of Nov 1946, at a cost of £6 5s 0d. Last maintained by the OS in September of 1986.

A quick trip here after a visit to Rodley nature reserve. Easy to find, as it's next to the Leeds and Bradford road ( B6157 ) opposite the top of Rock Lane. Trigpoint in good condition.

Desperate for my first pillar of the year, finally bagged Whitecote. Hailstones were lashing down in the darkness, but the bag is easy via the raised footpath and stairs. The view would have been excellent but sometimes it has to be dark. Pillar in very good condition. Which came first the houses or the pillar? Either way, someone has a trig straight out of their front window, wow!

I want to live in a house with a trig in the garden. Not sure whether its technically in the garden, or if the owners of these houses maintain the slope in front, whatever, the communal steps and path make it an easy bag. Not much gardening been done for a while though, someone could do with doing some weeding.

Horrible rainy day in Leeds but had to come and bag this one on the way home from a few days in the dales. Sat outside a house on a busy road, probably in there garden but there is a path running in front of all the houses. Wonder what the house owner makes of it.

Interesting location, similar to Durndale in Kent, except that this one is practically in a front garden. Surprisingly good views considering the urban location.

Lincoln away at Farsley Celtic today so an opportunity to do a couple of local trigs on the way to the match [and a couple of caches too!]. This one is just great! Reminds me of a similar pillar in suburban Nottingham where the owner of the garden with the trig point in it has covered it with bedding plants and the like! Original plug with slightly-indented letters. Traces of paint. E/W sightholes open. Like others have said, how many of us would like one of these....

The garden was in full bloom and made a wonderful frame for the unusually positioned trig point. I didn't bother disturbing the owners of the house thinking they may have been pestered enough already. The trig is easily accessible via the communal path at the top of the steps.

my absolute favourite trigg. I WANT THAT HOUSE!!!visited the trig summer 2002 on a 21 trig bagging day - the intention was to do 50!! the woman who answered the door was very nice and accommodating , said she often gets people wanting a look "you mean theres more geeks than you" my girlfriend said....

This is a belter. It's in the middle of someone's front garden. Could do with a lick of paint and maybe a sundial on top of it.

Pillar built 19th November 1946 as tertiary triangulation station. Pillar in good condition. Spider still retained OS boss. On a strip of garden well above road, in front of upper footpath. Bagged after dark.
