To left of field entrance, near road. Just part bushes and peer into murk. Ugh, half way in stagnant water, surrounded by nettles and brambles. Fly tipping all around being cleaned up etc. Seems drainage ditch being blocked up by it all.

(238) Parked up as Heapham road takes a turn to the right. A farm worker was in the field, so made enquiries about the trigpoint. He said despite working here for a good few years, he'd never seen the pillar in question before. At that point the heavens opened, so I quickly retired to my car to wait it out, and to double check I was actually in the right place. Deciding to quickly check the hedge before moving on, revealed that I was indeed in the right place. Access, though not totally easy, was surprisingly straight forward. I had imagined, reading previous logs, that this one would be difficult. And once you get closer to the pillar, there is more room to manoeuvre. If a relatively clear route to this pillar is down to a member on here, then thank you. As to the Pillar, then all appears good.

I wonder of I have another copy of the same map that I've lost on which I might've marked it.

We were caching in the area and noticed this one on the map. Parked off the road on the bend and went in search. Soon spotted in the middle of a small thicket. We approached from the field side then fought our way over the debris dumped there and finally into the thicket to reach the trig. Appears in good condition.

A joint visit with Carole. It was dark by the time we parked on the road corner. It took some finding but Carole bumped into it first when trying to go through a gap in the hedge. Mus a difficult one to spot when the foliage is in full growth. From what I could see the pillar is in good condition.

Hard to get due to its location in a thicket of Hawthorn and Sloe bushes. The spider is quite off centre and there is a small crack running from the spider down the front, however this look like a flaw from when it was cast rather than recent damage. I suggest you visit this one in winter as its a bugger to reach in summer. We emergered covered in cuts and scratches.

Parked on the corner near the trig quite hard to get to due the thicket of hawthorne bushes. There is a lot of fly tipping rubbish which spoils the area and quite a few broken padlocks and chains. This is in very good condition as the local holigans have not found it and defaced it.One thing we did notice is that the spider is very off set in the top of the trig. It is no wonder that I could not find this one at my summer 2004 visit. Whilst its visibility was much improved, it was still a hands and knees job in the mud to get under the thorns. I had to repeat the effort because I forgot to get a GPS reading! My access was from the field on the east side. Well done Father Ted for being the only successful summer logger so far!
