Parked on Worksop Road. Accessed the trig field via the public right of way. The pillar (the top three quarters of the column) now lies toppled amongst a pile of stones. An examination of the pile of stones revealed that the base and the bottom quarter of the column are still in the ground. Evidently, the pillar has been hit by a tractor / agricultural machinery, snapping the column three quarters down. The pile of stones with an orangy hue are there to alert anybody ploughing the field to the presence of the pillar, part of which is still the ground. The spider has gone, probably returned to OS. The toppled part of the pillar lies on the flush bracket side, so its impossible to tell whether the flush bracket is still there

The objective for today - drive from Alnwick to Coventry and bag one Trig Point in each county we pass through en-route. Planned a route to take in 14 Trigs in 14 different counties. This was #11 of 14 and was our 'tick' for Derbyshire. It came after two 'Moved' pillars in Lincs (New Ville) & S Yorks (Hampole Wood). Thought when I researched the route 'do these three, before it's too late' but scrolling down the comments below, people have been saying that about this one since 2004 - so its been like this for almost 20 years. Still, it does look very forlorn and abused, at least New Ville & Hampole Wood sit proud in their new locations.
