Visited the summit as part of a walk from Golcar with Alma Aurea. Accessed from the nearest footpath which runs around the field, but this involves going over the fence. You can cross the field to the other ROW without crossing any fences.

Coming from Crossland Heath, I arrived from the south along pinfold lane, up the footpath to wind turbine then headed west to follow marked paths. Ended up having to scale a fence due to veering off the path. I reached a point that is marked on the map as "woodland welcome" A 7ish foot high stone that had been placed there by 'johnsons quarries ltd' Carried on along the marked path and found I had to scale a barbed wire fence to reach the pillar. Back over fence, followed the path round, only to find a stile which meant I could have reached the pillar without risking my trousers.

Parked near footpath near Quebec, then followed this through the new Woodland Trust wood and past the quarry and the masts and then a wee wander to the pillar. Very short distance from PROW after masts. Also YSM0467 Wholestone Moor

(2539) Whilst pre-visit planning, I did ponder how best to tackle this one. Quebec Road was favoured for a while, but in the end I settled for parking at the houses on Round Ings Road, and then took the PRoW from there. Steep old climb to begin with and plenty of horses about. And then plenty of sheep with lambs in the following fields. I happened to spy a young farmer out on his quad bike, and as he had just cleared the sheep from the field containing the pillar, he said taking a closer look wouldn't be a problem. Excellent. Just the one barbed wire fence to scale - I managed to cut one hand going in, and cut t'other coming out. Ah well... Pillar all good though it sports a replacement centre cap. Pillar history: Built on the 29th of August 1947, at a cost of £6 2s 0d. Last maintained by the OS in October of 1985.

Parked on roadside and followed PROW, Pillar can be accessed in field by stepping over fallen stones on field boundry. Trig in good condition replacement centre cap fitted

A light covering of snow made the area look very picturesque. I was the wrong side of the wall for this one so didn't get too close.

Parked in a residential street off Round Ings Rd to NE. RoW initially then across a boggy cattle pasture, despite frost/snow it was still all soft. Pillar has an odd replacement centre cap, seemed to be metalic. RHS sight hole open. Extensive panoramic views.

Good to be back in the Peak another day of humid grey skies which isn't so good! Views west of Stoodley and east into Derbyshire, South Yorkshire, Wolds and Hambleton Hills. Not much visible to the north except for the similar mast strewn huge viewpoint of Soil Hill

Parked at the quarry entrance to the SW and used footpaths to gain the grassland fields and then an easy step across a low barbed wire fence to bag Martin Richardson's local trig.

Slogged up a footpath on a very soggy bank. Got to top, to find a really nice view. Plastic cap, wonky ring but otherwise in tact.

Easy access from west on Kirklees Way then N past towers, couple of gates see you at pillar. Fine views shame about motorway noise but suppose we all use them !

From lane to south, in high wind and rain - got soaked. There was a gate to a field to fore, at the top, with black cows beyond. They looked on indifferently as I stood at the gate. But I've been caught out like that before, and I wisely detoured to keep a fence between them and me. Sure enough! Heffers! They went berserk, pounding round the field and then glaring at me as I walked on the safe side. Then off to the other side of the field, and then back again in a charge, so I feared that my protective fence might be jumped! Pillar OK, back to the wind and rain for a photo. Nearby wind turbines nearly on fire, spinning so hard

Log #90. 380m. Short detour from walking section 2 of the Kirklees Way LDP. Temp 29c, sunny, visibility v.good. views 360 degrees. Access via trespass across farmland from PRoW to E of comms towers. Well, this has to be one of the best trigs I have visited yet! The views are magnificent and I can see for miles! Definitely the WOW factor here! (only spoiler is the hum of the moorland M62 below the hill).

Plastic plug. Private. Owner unknown. Ascending from south, follow public footpath till past 3rd & last mast. Trig then comes into view. Strike out across open field to reach it without having to cross any fences.

From the trig you can see 360 views. Where the pennine way crosses the motorway, the turbines above Hebden Bridge, Black Hill, Margery Hill, Emley moor mast, Huddersfield and Halifax. A truely amazing place apart from the noise from the motorway.

An after the event logging from a visit prior to finding this site. Re-visited whilst passing along conssessionary path to north-west on 5 Ovtober 2008 and took the opportunity to take photos. Visible and accessible but easier from footpath passing radio masts. Constant noise of M62

No barbed wire or wall to traverse the way I approached the trig - up from Slaithwaite along Meal Hill Lane to join the Kirklees Way just above Moorside Edge then taking the track running to the east of the 3 aerial masts (see photo - note : current OS OL21 map only shows 2 masts), just veered NW across open field - the old wall is vitually non-existant. Excellent views coming up from Slaithwaite but the weather turned nasty upon reaching the trig. Nearby M62 not so noisy today due to large traffic jam (hurray - serves them all right!!). No cars, on foot!

a bit of barbed wire's not enough to stop stonestreaker! There's a sequence of gates and easy fences to cross if you come from the aerial complex.

Well its there ... and there are grand views all around from the vicinity but to visit is to trespass ... over a dry stone wall and a somewhat recent sturdy barbed wire fence. Maybe this wasn't here when previous visitors logged??

Very misty today but genarally views are good. Quite close to Moorside Edge Wireless Station. There is the constant hum of the M62 motorway.
