From Swarth Fell. What a shame some imbecile decided to remove the FB. The pillar is still standing but the blockwork removed counts for around 1/3 of its thickness, Probably only a matter of time before another bunch of twerps come along and decide to topple it. WBF is a superb viewpoint and has a real air of mistique about it. I doubt anyone would argue though that the old top at the cairns guarding the edge above Mallerstang is the best spot up here.

Pillar vs pillocks The result of a deliberate act to steal the flush bracket no doubt.

The whole ascent is one huge sucking bog, which has been fed with rain water for the last few weeks and I was soaked to the knees before I reached the summit. Cloud cover killed any views. The only consolation was the view from High White Scar and the 10(?) cairns along the ridge, clouds lifted in time for this at least. Returned via Swarth Fell (another spagnum bog) and Holmes Moss Hill, even bloody worse if that was possible. Not a great days walking as you can gather :)
