My second visit, parked at same location as I did Sept 2019 so more or less the same route as previously, however as there were clearly some very beefy moos in the Trig 'field' we cut as far N as possible before approaching the summit from the NE to avoid them. Sadly the moos have churned up the area around the pillar badly compared to my previous visit, may just be a winter thing I'm sure it will all be lovely and grassy again come the summer. Managed to avoid all electric fences this time, and while the sky wasn't pure blue and cloudless the clouds today added some drama to our photographs. This is a really excellent hill!

Walking from Stow to Galashiels, managed to get this one as cows were far enough away. Lovely cairn beside it too.

Parked at the Tilhill forestry car park like i did yesterday for Buckholm Hill (but the need for food over took the need to walk to this trig). Over the road and through the gate and started up the hill. The first field has been churned up by the cattle, so not much fun. The moorland offered light relief but the snow was hard going. There was cattle all across the moorland but they were placid and not to curious. The fences were electrified but not to much juice running through them :o). From the first field the gates are at NT4916539495 and NT4847239518

My 100th 'New' Trig Point in 2019. Parked at Tilhill Car Park as we did earlier this month to do Buckholm Hill. A bit trickier to get to than anticipated, due to the amount of electric fences to be negotiated. All 3 of us got a zap each! Once at the summit however the views are impressive, as is the Bell Cairn. Absolutely glorious day.

Parked in the Tilhill Forestry Ladhopemuir car park and entered field at opposite side of road. Took a wee bit of trial and error til we found our way - luckily we picked a friendly herd of cattle to walk past! It was quite a slog through sodden long grass, bracken and heather but well worth it for the views from the trig. The last of our Gala trigs bagged and I reckon we left the best til last! We took a more direct route back to the road, avoiding the long grass and bracken (and a further few herds of cattle!)

Lovely hill with a big cairn. Pillar is in very good condition and intact, save for the decaying memorial plaque on one side. There is one slight access niggle. If you are not reasonably long legged and have a cool temperment, beware the SW ridge. There is an electric fence on it, that can be crossed on the ridge line care of two slippy stones. As I said, you need a cool head. You will provide entertainment for the very quiet herd of Galloways on the summit grazings. Fun watching the body language when you get close enough for them to realise that they dont know you.
