Circular walk from car park at Clay Bank, Carr Ridge, Urra Moor and Urra. Decided to walk an old path across Urra Moor! Not a good idea, very indistinct path with thick heather and not easy to negotiate. Remained in 1 piece - pleased it was fine and sunny!

Cleveland Way from Clay Bank to Drake Howe then over Cold Moor Notable summit, down to Akett and up via Bilsdale. Plenty sunshine during the day, but strong, cold wind made it pretty tiring. A few minutes drizzle on the way back down to car, 5h45.

Located on a saucer barrow at summit of Urra Moor, in wide expanse of heather moorland. Walked up from the FC's Clay Bank car park on a good track. Pillar has a broken composite disc replacing a missing centre cap; front and rear sight holes open. Extensive panorama.

Back again approached from below on the clay lane bridleway then a short pull up on to the moor.Tricky walking as much of the pathways had verglas ice on it.No views as a freezing fog had descended.Trig still in vgc plastic plug broken..Unlucky as the sun came out half way back!

Parked at clay bank and up the cleveland way many out today on a very sunny easter holiday.Trig in vgc great views up here very good well maintained paths here, one of the best walks i've had in ages on the moors at around 8 km also the highest in the park.

Cracking day weather wise and great walk to trig that we previously visited when last in the NYM in 2013. Easy to find trig just off Cleveland Way, which was one of many highlights on an 11 1/4 mile walk after setting out from Chop Gate.

Almost a view from coast to coast and the highest point in Eastern England - which isn't saying much, nearly get shot at on access land later - poor grouse, well it is N Yorks.

Second trig on the Lyke Wake Walk. FB faces south-east-ish with the same sighthole open only. Cap missing but a replacement plug has been fitted which is also now cracked open in the centre. Some minor damage to top of the trig. Plaque present.

C2C#22: rather misty but still all round views on a very flat and easy day of the C2C. Surprised to learn this is the highest point of the NYM as Whorlton Moor definitely looked higher, must be an optical illusion. Punctured plastic cap, W and E s/holes open, N buried, otherwise vgc.

from Bilsdale Hall - permission obtained from farmer to park. nice walk up first mile before hitting a good gravel track which led to within 100m of the trig. splendid wide ranging views though a tad hazy today. trig in good nick.

Me and Rocky parked at Clay Bank and walked up to the trig in low cloud then we walked round the edge of Urra Moor back to Clay Bank a walk of just short of 6 miles.

Stopped for lunch , whilst doing circular walk on moor. Easy to find as just off Cleveland Way. Superb views all around at this, the highest point in the North York Moors. Whilst lunching another coupled bagged the trig and the girl did a headstand by it, as a ritual they have when visiting a trig point, most bizarre.

Urra Moor, the highest point of the north york moors. On the coast to coast walk, and in a trigpointing first we wild camped right on the summit. Amazingly, you can get two small hiking tents up as the trig is surrounded by a grassy mound. What a feeling at nightfall, with our take outs from the Lion Inn, looking down on the lights of teesside, it really doesn't get much better than this.

Approached from northwest. Free public car park and view point at NZ572035. Mapped RoW from east side of B1257 at NZ572033 leads all the way to summit. Highest point in the North Yorkshire Moors. Pillar in good condition, fitted with GPS plate. Spider contains a plastic cap which has been partially broken through. Flush bracket faces SE, ~139°. Vented through SE and NW sight holes, innards filled with debris. Full 360° open outlook.

At last a path through the heather moorland...I love the Cleveland way...longest walk of the day but by far the most pleasant, shame the views still not so good, raining across Middlesbrough and into the Vale of York. Bet this would be beautiful on a clear day.

Out with my walking group - The Irregulars, LDWA - and our leader brought us to this trig pillar. He said it was the highest on on the North Yorkshire Moors. I will leave others to dispute this because I don't know. Pillar is easily accessible and highly visible being just off public footpath. Everything in good order although has a damaged plastic plug. Today the views were splendid.

Would have got a higher mark if there had been a view but we walked most of the day in cloud with only accasional views of Rosberry Topping and Billingham. Had to use the GPS to tall us when to vere off the cleveleand Way to the trig as we could not see it from the main path.

vgc, broken plastic plug, raised loops, GPS plaque. On grassed-over tumulus 50m N of track. Nice heather moorland, fine view with a stormy sky, late evening en route for Cheviot.
