What a quagmire and bewildering site to negotiate. Shown by farmers foster son in round the corner through the horses and over a bit of broken down hedge /fence as there was big tall locked metal gate into summit junkyard. First of 8 on a cycle ride W of Nottingham. Asked at farm and permission readily given, taken to trig in a compound (hard to believe it was an orcahrd) by chatty young lad. Yes, there was a mass of clutter, but the trig is there, in good condition, and all I spoke to were friendly and helpful, even the bunch of dogs, one of which gave my knees a thorough licking. Some views. On to Awsworth.

Approached the farm and was greeted with friendly smile and taken to the Trig by the teenage son. Trig is in an old Orchard surrounded with pallets and general farm stuff. In pretty good condition. the Family are genuinely nice and have no problem allowing access.

This time there were people about at the farmhouse, having cycled up the drive/lane. A friendly young lad was sent to guide me through their garden and up the track beyond (partly blocked with a dump of fir branches) and to the pillar alomost hidden in weeds.

Parked at the end of Swingate and walked along the Robin Hood Way and on to the farm. Friendly farmer showed me a path up alongside the farmhouse where I was met by an assortment of small but excitable dogs who escorted me to the not immediately visible trig point. The trig is relatively clear of the surrounding assortment of bits and pieces. I noticed that outside the opposite building, there was a cage of ferrets which the farmer said were owned by his son. No geese today but as others have noted, not a place to hang around. Off to Awsworth now for an even odder trig!
