After this trig having quite an exciting life it is looking very happy in its new Location. In the "Vic Scott Memorial Orchard" opposite New Zealand cottages in Aston Abbotts. With its new coat of white paint. All the trees in the orchard have labels saying who donated them. The trig is in very good condition sitting on a plinth at the far end of the orchard. The name "P. Knight 2014" is in the cement at the back of the plinth. Is this who we are to thank for saving this Trig? Much appreciated!

Visited the last known resting place at Mount Pleasant Farm, but nothing to see there. Stopped off at the original locat (SP 84008 19486) 4.85km S (as the crow flies) to see if by chance farmer had reinstated it on selling his farm in 2015, but not there either. Suspect he may have taken it with him. A little investigation might discover this pillar isn't destroyed after all, but has a third resting place. ***Follow up note: called Mount Pleasant farm 1 Jun 16, spoke with new owner. He's not seen a pillar anywhere on the property. Previous owner's son's name is Paul Body, but he has no contact details for him. This now a dead end... unless anyone knows Paul Body. ***Revisited 9 Jun 2016. After contacting previous farmer Pillar was located in a community garden/woodland area in Aston Abbotts at the GR above. It has been mounted on a brick-built plinth and has a fresh coat of white paint. Some chipping to the top edges. Original cap has been retained with lightly indented lettering; rear sight hole open. A peaceful, and hopefully final, resting place for this pillar.

New owners at the property since Easter 2015 have no knowledge of the trig. Definitely not on the prominent mound described. Can only assume the original land owner, who moved it here from its orginal position, has taken it with him to his new address. I didn't feel i could ask more questions being there at 7.30am on a Saturday morning - luckily the owners had just got up but had a young family to see to. Found - see log for 17 Mar 2017.

Top damaged, metal cap shallow letters, painted white, on a grassy hillock with a decent view. The thing on top is some kind of weight. As well as being a Caravan Club site, they also offer picture framing and coarse fishing. The chap I found (in the picture framing shop) was curious as to how I knew the pillar was there, but had no problem with my going to see it. Said his father moved it, years ago. It is nearly 5km north of its original location. Forgot to get out the GPS but found it where expected from Dr Apes grid ref. Well found Sir :-)
