Unlike widget a couple of years ago, I went up the almost hidden track to the west of Windmill Hill. I don't think anyone has been along there for a few years and 100m from the end there had been an attempt to block the overgrown track. I needed a machete but secateurs got me through. Once in the field access to the pillar was easy and I was blessed with stunning views to the sea, Brixham and across the Dart.

Can't believe mine is only the 11th log, which adds to the score. I came up the clearly marked farm track from Yalberton to the SE, parking in a muddy "layby". The track petered out after 300m so I went through or over several field gates, going quietly so as not to scare the lambs, and access was remarkably easy if you discount the gradient! Views are pretty good, although the whole of Torbay can only be seen from slightly lower down. It took me about 50 mins.

From Stoke Rd, Higher Yalberton. Handy parking next to field gate; farm track initially before pasture and arable field boundaries, a little tricky in places and several fences. Unlikely to be overgrown at any time of the year as this pillar sits in a rough pasture out on the hillside, well away from any hedgerows. Has a nice reddish tinge to it. Original cap has been lost, no top plug; all sight holes open. Extensive views in an arc SE-S-SW. Caravan site below not very intrusive.

We parked west of Aish on the yellow road leading to Whitehill. Took the track north from spotheight 58 on the explorer map. The track finishes at a pasture field with horses (which disappeared over the horizon as we entered the field). The clump is qutie nice, with good views towards the north. The trig is south of the hedge (sheep netting with barb wire) and has good views south. Plug with raised lettering.

This dirty pillar is located at the top of an incredibly steep hill. We knew we were high up when we could see the buzzards hovering well below us. Nice little adventure though, and farm cider available for purchase at the bottom of the hill.
