The last of seven trigs whilst driving around Gloucestershire waiting or the Red Lion at Ampney St Peter to open up. Managed to squeeze the car onto the verge at the corner by the FP to the south and nipped through the trees onto an open track running along the bank above the busy A417. At the remnants of the wall turned away from the wall and up the short rise to the pillar. Fairly dull, but a bag nevertheless. Off to our digs then out for some beers at the totally unspoiled gem of a pub which had just reopened after 9 years of closure. The Red Lion at Ampney St Peter is well worth a visit.

Relatively easy walk from minor road along bridleway (although field has been harvested and the ploughed earth is hard going especially after yesterday’s rain)! Pillar stands on south side of remains of hedge, with asphalt plug. FB faces S. North sighthole is open, all others plugged. A pleasant location with just a little noise from the A417 trunk road nearby, but views limited to the vast arable fields surrounding. Position logged from average of two readings from GPS device accurate to ±5m.
