Parked at the reservoir / water tower. Trig was in the field behind. Trig has been moved and dumped at the base of the two electricity poles. Centre cap missing, no plug, right sighthole open, all other sightholes closed. I left a 2p coin in the right sighthole for the next visitor to find.

Easy to find and access, although there was a need to pick a way through young crops to get to the pillar. This feels like it has been moved. The position was taken using GPS, and the whole base is out of the ground, and while there is a tilt, it is still upright, not toppled. Reasonable views on a nice clear afternoon following a morning of showers.

Continuing absence of phone line drove us to the Lord Nelson in Middle Winterslow for a vg lunch, free wifi and some v diff pub games! Afterwards a short walk up to this trig on a lovely sunny spring afternoon (onwards afterwards to Kentswood). I'd argue this is moved, not toppled (it is largely upright, but not in its original location). Views of surrounding rolling Wiltshire. Centre and SW s/hole open, otherwise in good condition despite its re-location.

Agreed this pillar has been moved, but not very far - 20m has been suggested and I would agree. Located approx 30m in from the field boundary, access is easy from a nearby public path, with parking convenient by the water company's compound close by on the minor road between East and Middle Winterslow. The trig is complete with its plinth but is leaning and has been dropped, presumably by the farmer, between a pair of electricity posts (I guess he would have liked to get rid of them as well, but a bit more problematically!). Otherwise the pillar is complete, except for the cap which is missing leaving the central hole open. 1 sight hole is open, the other 3 sealed.

Visited this pillar following a six mile walk through the Wallops: Nether,Middle and Over. Enjoyed a lemonade at the Shire Horse (next to Grateley Station) then drove the short distance to East Winterslow. The pillar now stands slightly toppled at an angle between two posts of an electricity line, its base exposed. Near a water tower, and today a huge 'strawhenge!' Beautifully calm & serene area, the only sound came from above in the form of a helicopter, presumably from the Middle Wallop Airfield.
