Parked at start of footpath on minor road. A very pleasant walk passing through 3 fields ,then on the 4th field turn left up the hill to trig where the footpath joins from the right .

Walked Bridleway north from lane around Shill Hill. Then east to trig point once the track enters the trig field. Spooked a deer on edge of woodland.

Cycled along ROW from north that is part of the Gloucestershire Way. Then diverged up to Trigpoint when in the field.

Parked on minor road due S of trig, RoW N then, mistakenly, took good track through Upcote Plantation but had to zig-zag about when it veered off ENE. Returned via more direct route to W of Shill Hill. Pillar in large open hill pasture full of sheep giving extensive views (limited a little in N & S due to tree lines) over the Cotswolds. Pillar in reasonably good condition with horizontal hair fracture in screed to LHD side and rear; exposed base; original cap in place, lightly indented lettering; LHD side and rear sight holes open, other 2 plugs deteriorating.

delightful walk SE across cropped grassy fields to the eventual mega 40-50acre field with the trig in it. Initially thought it ought to be a tump but seems it is actually about P24 sattellite of Wistley hill, being 9m lower.

Parked at the picnic area to the N. I was worried that it would be muddy after the sleet of the morning, actually the track was fine - it is essentially a green path, and the weather was chilly but pleasant. Trig with snow on its face in a field of sheep. Cap intact. Old horsehoe? on top.

A longer walk from the bike than usually attempted, but wanted to bag one of the last Cotswold pillars not visited. Beautiful sunny warm morning. Followed footpath South East from cul-de-sac lane, then tacked left up field to ridge.

Plenty of evidence on the ground of equine activity on the way out to the tp. Crept silently through the wood passing the in use training gallops on the way back.

Came in from the south on a muddy bridleway. walked up though the woods on a track and returned on the right of way as a circuit. Despite the mud I would advocate the right of way for this. Better views and less fences. And so ends the last easy cluster on the direct Rhayader -Southampton run

The walk in goes through Upcote Cross cOuntry Course ,which at this time of year means lots of mud! Nice views from pillar which is 200m off ROW in sheep field.
