The upper third of this pillar is showing signs of cracking. Easily visible by the moss that has taken hold. Closer inspection reveals other fractures elsewhere. Unusual rounded top corners. Is this weathering or has the trig had some maintenance work done? Am sure there is a view. Alas, not today.

Visit to correct oversight from 2005 when I had visited the Hewitt (i.e. pre deliberate Trig bagging) No need for fire warnings today, it was yet another very soggy trudge. Notable that path to Hewitt was clearly there most of the way, but the extension to the Trig was not at all defined, yet there were some footprints on the obvious fenceside route we all probably follow.

A well rounded top The apparent replacement top for Wolfcleugh is of a different material, and has rounded shoulders rather than the standard angular shape.
