Circular walk around Woodhall Hills and Calverley with the first stop at the TP. Chap behind the counter in the pros shop only too pleased to point out the location of the TP and give me permission to walk across. He was even happier when I said I was a golfer and very aware to watch out for low flying golf balls. I encountered none, but the course was very busy being the only fine day for a fortnight. Lovely location with 360 views, and a trig that is looked after on the right side of the 18th fairway. Onwards to look for 20+ BMs.

(Revisit) A quick revisit so my little trigbagger could bag #92. We deliberately picked a rough weather day - it was chucking it down - so that we could dash to the pillar and back without bothering anyone. Pillar condition still excellent, and it was literally a couple of minutes there and back from the (empty) golf club car park.

Next to a tree on the Woodhall Hills Golf Course. Course currently closed due to coronavirus restrictions, but access through the car park to the trig was straightforward. Trig has a relatively recent (2019) memorial plaque attached.

(1733) Parked just before the Golf Course, and popped in to ask about visiting the pillar. Permission freely given. Only a short walk to its location from the club house - it's nestled amongst a few trees. All in good condition. Memorial plaque present on the rear of the pillar, with a wreath on the ground nearby. Pillar history: Built on the 15th of August 1947, at a cost of £5 13s 3d. Last maintained by the OS in October of 1986.

Despite it absolutely lashing it down, and it being a Saturday evening, there were a dozen cars in the car park so I nipped into the clubhouse to ask permission. The young barman hadn't the foggiest idea what I was on about but the pair of patrons knew of the 'concrete block under the tree'. All were very friendly and access was happily given. The pillar is a very quick stroll from the car park and sits under a large tree. It has been adopted as a memorial to someone's husband (presumably a club member) and has a brass plaque attached. There was also a faded wreath atop the pillar, it felt a little disrespectful to move it so I can't comment on the spider. A fine pillar in a fine location; many thanks to Woodhall Hills Golf Club.

Parked on the track opposite the Entrance to Woodhall Hills Golf Course , walked along road and over to the trig crossing the 18th fairway to the Trig which sits under the branches of a large tree-the trig is in good condition with original cap and attached decoration- pleasant viewpoint on a sunny day

I walked up from New Pudsey station,spoke to a guy in car park about permission to visit Trig he turned out to be the club secretary & said no problem.Off to York next to meet up with my daughter,using the new Transdev £9 Day Tripper ticket which I purchased on the bus in Earby this morning.It allows you unlimited access on all Transdev buses in Lancashire/Yorkshire as far as Preston/York.BARGAIN

Perfect picturesque location under tree alongside golf course fairway. parked in a lane on the bend just before the Golf club (on the way from leeds) Pleasent walk in bright sunshine. All golfers encountered were really nice.

Classed as a hazard by the golfers!! (that's a golf joke sorry)

Easy bag/tresspass over wall, crazy golfers were still trying to have a game in the 90 mph winds when i got there,one of the fools tried to drive a ball which shanked onto the main road just missing me!The trig is in excellent condition with cap and plug.

4th and final trig of the day on a strange suburban arctic walk. I can safely say that there were no golfers there today. Walked along the road to the end of the car par, hopped the wall then headed straight across the course. It would be a long 30yds on any other day. Looks like the tree/trig is a memorial now, as flowers were laid. Sat there for 30 minutes,enjoying the peace and nature and flask of coffee. Bet you can't do that on most days here!

Very pleasantly situated in its own private golf course with a lovely tree for company. I was escorted off the premises by the club secretary -a former prison governor - without a struggle. But I'd got my photo. Warning: don't drive into the car park as you need the security number to get out again! (It was 1956). 8 out of 10 for excitement.

Waited for a suitable gap in the golfers then hopped over the wall from the road and visited the column which was sited just off the eighteenth fairway of the Woodhall Hills Golf Course.
