(1514) A lovely one to bag. Good parking at the layby. Cracking views to be had - Emley Moor mast visible and the sound of Buzzards ringing out. The pillar is situated within a pleasant narrow woodland, though I didn't see any private signs as others have stated. Path to the pillar well worn. All good, though the plug is non original, and the FB appears to be set slightly skew-whiff. Pillar history: Built on the 29th of May 1937, at a cost of £5 5s 4d. Last maintained by the OS in August of 1985.

A straightforward find from the viewpoint on Woolley Edge Ln. Cross the road and enter the wood opposite then follow the obvious track South for about 0.1mile. Where this track forks, take the left branch up the hill. Keep heading up and you will soon spot the pillar above you on a rocky outcrop. All sight holes filled and resin cap. Views are limited due to trees - probably even more so in the summer months. Flush bracket faces NE. I walked down to West Bretton and the Yorkshire Sculpture Park for a lap of the lakes prior to bagging this pillar. In my opinion, this trig pillar was better than most things on offer in the sculpture park !!

This Trig sits serenely amongst woodland on the edge of the Woolley Moor plateau, overlooking old quarry workings and the deep Dearne Valley below. Unfortunately, the magnificent views are hidden by the trees. If you are travelling by car however, park at the Woolley Edge Lane viewpoint CP and after savouring the views, walk up Common Lane a few meters to access one of the many paths thru the woodland to reach the trigpoint. The woodland is private and displays no trespass warnings but the paths are well used and the walk thru the woodland is magnificent. High score even without views from the trigpoint.

top of the eastern edge of a little bit of west sloping woodland. Michelle Hogg's 29th birthday, my partner and mother of the about to be born in 26 days time on 1/7/99, Trig Pillocksson, with this trig having the flush bracket number of his 86th birthday. Number deliciousness. It even has a good hill-bagging.co.uk number 5555
