Views of the northern slopes of the Brecon Beacons from here are magnificent. I hopped over many fences to reach this pillar and would not recommend my route to anyone .... but it was exhilarating!

Parked by the covered reservoir and walked up the lane. The owner of the renovated property next to the farm was sitting in the yard having a cuppa in the sunshine. When I approached, he pointed to the top of the hill and said 'it's up there'. We had a nice chat and he told me the best route to get to the trig. Great views today.

I came across fields from the south starting from the narrow lane, just east of Llwynrhida. There are a total of two fences and four gates to climb going this way. My plan was to head up whilst darkness fell to offer a bit of concealment. This almost backfired against me though when I very nearly got lost in the thick mist and gloom. In the end it proved to be a lot more thrilling trig bag than it actually needed to be.

We parked in a layby opposite Twyn-yr-ogin where there is a waste transfer station not shown on the map. We walked down the track past Tan-yr-allt and through a farmyard via a couple of metal gates. There were no footpath signs in evidence but we weren't stopped at all. We followed the supposed path for a while until it crossed a stream (no stiles), and then headed straight up hill (a bit trespasy I suppose). A couple of barbed wire fences and a scramble up a wooded bank brought us to the field with the trig. On approaching the trig Nico and Ellie (two junior trig spotters) noticed a sheep on its back writhing around like an upturned tortoise. We walked over and with a helping heave it was back on its feet and off to rejoin its mates who had disappeared to the far end of the field. Our good deed for the day! Excellent views, plug with heavily indented lettering.

Not necessarily an easy find. Tried one route up and different one back. Parked in the left turn just after Bryn Brynich heading out from Brecon. Best route was through farm on right of way then head towards summit using track walked in by farmer going to feed sheep two openable gates leads to a patch of gorse then a fence and the trig.
