Parked at club house car-park at bottom of hill and walked up. Approached from the North. Good views west to Welsh mountains especially with sun setting. Sheep in field rather than cows I'm glad to say. The sheep conversation in the attached photo is courtesy of my son.

Parked on Terrick Road. Took the driveway up to Old Wickstead Hall, and then the public right of way to the right up to the pillar. This is a primary pillar, and a passive station. 5 of 15 on my 15 trig Nantwich/Whitchurch day

Easy access from the footpath at SJ548441. Once through a few gates, straight up the hill. Lots of cows with calfs in the field so just skirted around the edge. Note no 'S' on the flush bracket number. Classic trig sitting all alone on the top of its hill.

Managed to park on sharp bend near Wicksted Hall. Walked a short distance along drive to old hall then over fence south towards the trig point. Small detour off the path gives easy access to trig.

From the RoW leading to Wickstead Old Hall. Diverted off the track and across pastures, managed to spook a herd of catte in the dark. Pillar retains what appears to be an original centre cap, no lettering; sight holes not noted. Dark, no views.

Particularly nice low lying pillar. Have been after this one for quite a few years. Shame the way it worked out it had to be my penultimate pillar on the Chester sheet and not the last.

Blue skies and green fields. Lovely jubbly.

HISTORY: Pillar built in 1936, exact date and cost not on record. Computed as primary triangulation station PP21 within Figure 4 of the OSGB36 retriangulation network during 1937. Levelled for height to Class 1 tertiary standards in 1960. Last routinely maintained by the OS in 1994 but continues in service as a GPS passive station. SITE VISIT: Approached from NNW. Parked by north side of lane by notice board at SJ545441. Followed road then mapped RoW to just west of trig. Grazing field. Pillar in good condition, GPS plate affixed. Spider fitted with old metal cap with no lettering. Fleece polished flush bracket faces north, compass measurement 1°. Open outlook with limited views.

Parked at postbox opposite houses and walked down to farm road. Up that and right over stile onto FP. Go to left of reservoir on little hill and through gate next to horses then up hill to trig. Nice views.

Classic trig, perched on grassy hillock, visible for long way off. Slight damage to corners, looks like some sort of cutting tool used on it. As with other visitors, the best place to park is by the post box nearby.

Came here after bagging the 'Swan Lake' geocache. This is a lovely spot, just off a public path on a small tump. It looks like the original OS plug with rivets but no lettering on it which I haven't found very often. OS anti-vandal plaque. S sighthole open, others closed. Traces of white paint. Concrete base exposed about 8" all round. In a sheep pasture with wonderful views from E right round to S and then NW.

Its probably easiest to park by the post box on this narrow lane through Wirswall. Walk E along the lane to the track leading to Wicksted Old Hall and after 50 metres cross a stile on the right and follow line of telegraph poles across field to gate. The trig point is in the nest field over to the left on a grassy hillock. Good views to the south.
