(18) Parked up by the entrance, and walked down to the trig, which took about 5 or so minutes. A few cars was parked up inside the farm area, but no one was about so proceeded to the pillar. Which is almost engulfed by the hedge. The pillar has a nice green colouring to it now! Pillar history: Built on the 30th of November 1959, cost not listed in the archive. Last maintained by the OS in January of 1981.

Joint visit with Carole. A visit in the dark. Luckily had brought a tourch so soon spotted what we were after. A bit of scrambling over rubish area to reach the pillar. Everything in good order. To dark for my camera - must find out how to use the flash properly.

left the car at North wold farm and took on the long walk down to this one, even though it was only 60 or so metres i still managed to end up the wrong side of the hedge for the flush bracket, deceided i could sneak under the hedge to save the walk all the way back to the car and back down the other side, not sure why i thought this, must have been thinking back to days of old when I was alot slimmer, still i got there in the end, very wet on the knees but none the wiser,I am sure i will do the same the next time it happens.

I found a farm worker at North Wold Farm to ask. He didn't seem to be aware of the existence of the pillar but gave permission. The FB faces west. There is no view on this side because of a raised reservoir, probably just for farm irrigation. GR to 10m only.

My guess is that this is a replacement trig for the nearby missing North Wold Farm which may have been lost for some reason. At the top of this farm track is a bungalow and large farm building both to the right. I could find no sign of life at either to ask permission only some dogs. The trig is deep in a hedge to the left of the farm buildings and best observed from the westerly side.
