The FBM still sits with a felled tree on its head, but easy enough to spot once you find the correct area, which I didn't initially.

Good condition FBM with a minor minor dings to the top edges. No height tag. Followed directions from previous logs. First lamppost up footpath, over the wall, FBM is under a fallen tree about 10m in. The nearby Brig o' Balgownie is fantastic as well.

Parked to the south, walked up the footpath to first lamppost, hop over wall and the FBM is about10m in located in a small clearing. No cage and granite block seemed to be in a ok condition.

Parked to S, walked up the path. 1st lamp post on left, hopped the wall, easily found approx 10m into light woodland. Pillar has some slight chipping to top edges; height tag missing.

Should have read BigJ's log more carefully, however GPSr and my senses took me down the steps to a bench above the river where I was shocked at this time of night in the dark to see someone sitting! Lots of memorial flowers and a Samaritans sign, made me pause for thought a little. Once back at bridge level, I headed up the correct steps to the correct lamppost, hopped over the fence and there it was!

A lovely spot above the river. Go to the bottom of the steps, face uphill, go up to lampost and look left. Lots of undergrowth in June.

Beautiful position next to the wonderful gothic arched brig o Balgownie and with my infant school high up on the bank looking down on it. Full of nostalgic feelings went to Balgownie school a full year late at age six after coming back from the USA where they wouldn't admit me as I was un-vaccinated

vgc, charming location in woodland above R Don. From bottom of steps / ramp leading down from main road, FBM is 15m to NW. My usual trick of plotting on 50k map is misleading in this case - looks like they've stretched things a bit. But found easily - with iainmac's pic who needs GPS :-)
