There is a toppled cut granite block but it is sitting in a cut of what looks like blue grey slate, which is local stone - that is flat lying along its bedding plane. Cleared it up, washed it down just to make sure. Its certainly not concrete at the bottom of the hole adjacent. This could be a 1 square granite gate post.

07/04/19 - Revisit with details from OS Benchmark. Now think it most likely the underground pat of FBM is now under Tarmac but quite close to edge. Hope I'm wrong. Returned after RHW's sterling work.

Smooth slab almost a foot down at road edge at foot of west hedge bank, 1.5m N of gateway, in line with the right hand tree of the pair shown in previous photos. I exposed a 50x30cm section and left it exposed. Quite hard ground but should be possible to extend further north. At S edge of slab is what might be concrete or a stone block, could it be the marker block inverted?

Gone. Enquired at Rock Farm as to possibility they had some information about it's disappearance, or perhaps had it in their grounds a s a 'trophy', but no luck on either score. Apparently removed without OS consent during road widening around 2007-8.

After following the trail of flush brackets along the second geodetic levelling survey route to the location of the FBM, I was rather disappointed after a bit of a search at not finding the FBM itself. Shortly before leaving the area, a nearby resident arrived and explained that it had been removed by the construction company when the road was slightly widened by the company laying a gas pipeline nearby a couple of years ago. As to whether this was done with permission, they didn't know. Should have checked here first...

Having read the log by Dusty and being in the area thought would have a look ,this has definately gone but dont know why ,has to be a deiberate removal as nothing else changed.
