Some chipping from top corners; original cap in place, lightly indented lettering; front sight hole only open. Good all-round views, a little limited W.

A joint visit with Carole. We parked at the road junction to the south near Harland Cottage. Entrance to the track to the resevoir and mast is easily achieved by straddling a low fence next to the locked gate. Signs of recent work but not today. Simply walked up the track which when followed leads all the way to the field in which the pillar stands. The gate was open and once into the field the pillar is quite visible. We used tractor tracks to make our way through the infant crop. Pillar in good condition. Pillar is in good condition and is adorned with one of the GPS Network plaques. Still retains an original indented letter plug. Lovely view point over the area (excluding mast and resrevoir) from this relatively elevated location.

Surely better called Whatborough Hill. 3 generations of us walked up track to mobile phone mast and circular covered reservoir (?) and top of TP found poking out of field of wheat behind. Followed breaks in crop to TP; original plug and OS plaque. Wide views over high Leicestershire from approach, but felt trespassy and we were seen and closely examined by farmer in Landrover on our way down, though I think he realised that a party including a 7 year old and a nearly 80 year old weren't worth bothering with.
