One of my favourite moments trigpointing is arriving at the Malvern trig on a clear day just as the sun is coming up. I wasn't alone for this bag, even at this ridiculous time of the morning - indeed, I think half of Worcestershire yomped up the hill after me - but it's easy to see why this is a popular place to be at this time of day. The views are extremely expansive in all directions, and the hills north and south are very picturesque, especially when bathed in the golden early morning sun. Stayed over half an hour to see the sun fully in the sky, before heading off for a full day's trigging in this most beautiful part of England. A glorious start to a fantastic day.

During my work away stay in The West Midlands this walk saw me complete the Malvern Chain over a series of 3 evenings. Beautiful views, lovely sunset later in the evening and quite busy for a weekday evening. The nearby toposcope was literally crawling in flying ants - obviously launch day!

1/3 First summit of Malvern Midsummer Marathon LDWA 26mile challenge event, run in April this year to avoid congestion with the LDWA 2023 100 being held in the same area at the end of May. The MMM follows a circular route from Lower Wyche on the edge of Great Malvern, which today, was blanketed in thick mist. On climbing towards the beacon we rose out of the mist to see the tops of the Malvern hills like islands in a sea of low lying cloud which was spread over the Severn valley as far as the eye could see.

Parked one of the car parks and had a stroll about the hills waiting for sunset. Unfortunately clouded over in the west but great walk and great views. Highly recommend going to British Camp Hill Fort for views across to the Malvern Hills.

At an elevation of 1,324 ft, the Worcestershire Beacon is the highest point of the Malvern Hills and also the highest point in Herefordshire or Worcestershire. Climbed 1,010 ft to the trig, completing a 4.5 mile circular walk. Hard work in 27 degrees heat but worth it for the fantastic 360 degree views. Also at the top of the Beacon is a toposcope, an engraved brass disc of 25 inches diameter, which identifies all the points of interest which are visible on a clear day.

The vista is well worth the steep climb from the town below. The toposcope nearby was constructed in 1897 to commemorate Queen Victoria's diamond jubilee and emphasises the extent of the vista. Apparently the original brass plaque was stolen, then recovered by Walsall police. It is now kept in a safe place with a replica now in situ.

What to do when you have 6 hours to kill in Coventry? Obvious answer - get the hell out of Coventry and go somewhere more interesting! An hours drive to Malvern (via TP3283 Gables) parked up in Malvern and a lung busting ascent up Happy Valley, Sugar Loaf Hill and Worcestershire Beacon and back to the car in under an hour. Superb weather, outstanding views. A full traverse of the Malvern range added to the 'To Do' list. First Trig Point 'tick' in Hereford & Worcester, 16 different counties bagged in the past two days!

I can't see if I ever did log this the last 2 times I was here, the last was 25 March 2017, when I organised the geocaching 15 Years Celebration of the YOSM event where nearly 100 people attended. There was a picture of me at the Trig taken, and the wheel barrow I used to haul the equipment for Tea/Coffee/Cake at the top! I am back for my 2nd Covid jab at the showground below later, and decided to try a sunrise walk to the Beacon. Lovely sunrise and 3 other people up here on a blustery morning. Missing cap but enjoyed the return trip.

The first of 3 significant trigs bagged today and we were up and down by 0945. Ascended from Great Malvern on the standard Worcestershire Way route via St Ann's Well on a beautiful morning for the well-known fabulous all-round views, then made it a circular walk via Lower Wyche. Splendid walk along Malvern crest from Chase Hill to End Hill. According to OS website it's about 10 miles (16.38km) with 3274ft (997m) of ascent. Like walking up Glyder Fach from sea level! Fine spring day. First came here sometime around 1975.

Fourth county top of the holiday. Another long awaited top, last seen in the distance from the Clee. Even on a cold grey day it's wonderful, Broadway tower and a smudge of mid Wales, Brecons, silver glimmer of the Severn, have to imagine the view to the Pennines

Out with HKMHill doing some nearby Geocaches. Fantastic views today hence the high score. Not the clearest of days, but we could still see Sugar Loaf Mountain from here today. Not too breezy either, but enough wind to give the Kites 5 minutes flying time. Elevation 413 meters.

Walked up from the west side car park near the gap through the ridge. Shower of hail on way to pillar which dissipated by the time I'd had lunch and completed the admin around the trig point and toposcope. Interesting to note you can see White Horse Hill in Oxfordshire where I'd been the week before. Worth a revisit on a clear day. County top for Worcestershire. Descent along metalled path and bumped into a chap I used to meet at orienteering meetings years ago. Small world! Onward to Turner's Hill in the West Midlands and home.

Doesn't get the full 10 due to lots of peopleage and Malvern spoiling the view in my opinion. I had visited here on a glorious sunny morning just over 10 years ago at 5:30am when I was the only one up here and my work colleagues thought I'd been lying in when I was a bit late for breakfast. A lot greyer today with a good breeze and can't see our Welsh destinations today but it's great that these hills still cope with all the visitors. Toposcope and small crags on summit are brilliant for kids and there is a pub in West Malvern to investigate when we get back down.

Meant to leave bike in car park near Wych Cutting and walk North up ridge. However, a narrow tarred road (banned to motor traffic but no explicit ban for cyclists) leads almost to summit. Day dreamed of being Bradley Wiggins on the way up! Almost no wind. Panorama changes by the minute as clouds pass across the countryside.

A great afternoon outing on this popular hill, with 20+ mile views in most directions. I came onto the main ridge at Upper Wyche and then followed the easy track up to the highest point. I carried on over North Hill, finishing off down in Malvern Link. A first class trig to start the year off with.

Giving this one a high score for the views (despite it not being a Munro, obviously) and for the fact that we tripped up there today with our 84 year old father, who had a great day out. Trig in good condition, but as others have said, the toposcope attracts more attention. How odd.

A fairly easy walk up from Earnslaw car park. Good views but quite windy once out of the trees. Sun, clouds and veils of rain in the distance added to the splendour of the view. Most other people seemed to be more interested in the nearby topograph so no problem obtaining pictures of the pillar.

Very prominent range of hills. We walked up from the Clock Tower car park at the northern end of the hills and walked south over Worcestershire Beacon (a Marilyn) where the trig is located, then on to Upper Wyche and returned along paths lower down visiting the very pretty St Anne's Wells. We also had the privilege of seeing a Lapland Bunting resting on the top of North Hill - not that I would know one from any other bunting, but with a complete circle of twitchers surrounding the poor thing, all with long-lens cameras it was obviously something special. Looked like any other LBJ to us though! ***Re-visited 13 Nov 2021 with Rob n Smey.

This or May Hill would have been my first trig as a child. Today I brought my Jacob up here via St Anns Well. Busy. Amazing views though the sun did hide behind the clouds (which disappeared once we walked back down, typical!) The toposcope attracts more people than the nice pillar.Highest point in Worcs at 425m. Also bagged Sugarloaf Hill (368m). Then went to see Horrid Henry at the theatre

A classic pillar on Worcestershire Beacon, the summit of Malvern Hills and the highest point in Worcestershire. Today you could see 50 miles in all directions. Adjacent to granite toposcope erected in 1897 for Victoria's Diamond Jubilee. The pillar has the OS warning notice about vandalism attached to it, dated July 1999. Central plug missing, otherwise OK. Great spot!

Logged retrospectively. So long ago, can’t remember when I first visited this trig. (Date of first visit estimated.) Have been several times because I love walking the Malverns. Haven’t been in the last few years.

Graciously 'opened' by the conservators, even though there is no livestock on the hill. This will not be tolerated nnext time! (reason for lack of livestock, the insurance costs were too great,the sheep used to keep raiding the Malvern gardens. The hill is now becoming wooded.) Pillar in good shape, with OS plaque. Was back at the end of October 2002 - in a ferocious gale. Like Carn Coinnich in Strathcarron, I had to hug the pillar to avoid being blown away. Familiar backdrop, to the 2nd best day of the year as a child.. a visit to the Three Counties Show. Allegance since has switched to The Royal Welsh.

The summit has a trig point and topograph (which was erected in 1897 to commemorate the 60th year of the reign of Queen Victoria. All around is close cut grass, but the summit has exposed rock, caused perhaps by erosion from the impact of many years of visitors.

The last of several visits which started in 1990, during which Putney Walking Club house sat during my parent's world travels (very brave of them to leave us in charge!). On this occasion (as many others, when we were younger and fitter), a complete Malvern Hills E2E, on a beautifully sunny day.

(now)whitewashed with 1999 OS tag.(Feb 11 2011 over 100 visits, but this was my completion of a Marilyn on every day of the year (366 in all). Danced "Outer Circle" from B'ham 60th anny book to celebrate). The refreshment hut burned down and the Conservators would not replace it. Water pipe still visible to north.
