Whilst work away in The West Midlands undertaking a series of evening walks in the hills around. What is enjoyable is each time I see a panorama I start to see more and more hills that I have already been up. Shropshire Six Summits completed, Worcestershire 1000ft hills next and The Malverns. Pillar is in good condition, loevely views

After the finale of the LDWA 2023 EBB 100 mile challenge walk it was time for a visit to the Clent hills. Parked up at top CP on road splitting the two hill tops and took a circular walk clockwise over Walton hill, quite tree clad but pillar open with nice view south to Bredon hill and the Malverns on far horizon. Then continued, descending towards Clent village......

Parked in the car park to the north of the pillar, and then took the public right of way (PRoW) from there up to the pillar. Walton Hill is one of the Clent Hills, along with Clent Hill itself, Wychbury Hill, Adams Hill, and Calcot Hill. The pillar on Walton Hill is also a primary. 3 of 10 today in and around Hagley, Worcestershire

KF Simple short walk up from large car park area to N. Pleasant woodland around summit and not as crowded as the 4 Stones hill to the North. Trig in good condition and still has original worn cap. Views sadly near the top hampered by heat haze from the warmest August Bank Holiday recorded. Off for a picnic in St Kenelm's churchyard down the hill a bit.

Parked in dedicated CP to north. Why I haven't been up here before I'll never know. The views, especially today, are stupendous. The BT Tower at Charwelton, Northants was visible, Charnwood, Birmingham, Barr Beacon, Cannock Chase and north of that. Welsh hills beyond the Clees and Malverns. Cotswolds were clear. The Clent Breccia is responsible for the hill - fewer people too compared with Four Stones. Take your binos when you go!

The first trigpoint of my 2 day sortie into the West Midlands and a good one to start with. There’s easy parking to the north and it’s a short, sharp climb from there. The pillar is in good condition apart from a couple of chips on the top edge. The centre plug is still there but unusually, doesn’t seem to have any legend on it. There is, however “TS=JD” stamped into the spider. I’m not sure if this is significant or graffiti. This morning was bright, warm and sunny but a grey haze obscured the distant views which would have been good otherwise, particularly to the south.

Snapped a couple of photos at the Trig while out walking before we headed over to Adams Hill to check one of my caches GC1AWE7. The Trigs in good condition, with only a few miner cracks around the flush bracket. Recorded 1,051ft at the top of the pillar, or 320.3448m for you guys that don't share my passion for good old feet and inches ;-) Spotted one Buzzard, a few dog walkers and a hundred or so sheep.

My most visited trig offers a good viewpoint. Today I could see the Malverns, Clee Hills and so on halfway up from the village of Clent but then the rain rolled in so I missed out on the views north and east.

Trig is grey with some white flecks - top metal insert present. It is labelled as a gps active trig. Enjoyed the walk from the NT car park and trig is in the middle of the footpath!

Walton Hill is the closest passive station to home for me. It's a great location, providing views right into the centre of Birmingham (along the Bristol Road!) to the north-east, Malverns in the south-west, Clent in the north-east and the Clee Hills in the west. Very easy access with parking provided to the north. I measured a height of 322mOD from the top of the pillar.

Visited this one after orienteering on Clent Hills and finding the two geocaches. Watched a bird hovering in midair trying to fly against the wind and eventually giving up after having got nowhere. All four sightholes open. OS GPS plaque affixed.

Though about the bike again but left it in the back as the brake cables need tightening. Took the steep climb up and the easy path back. Few people around has the look of someone starting to repain and giving up 1/3 of the way down. Dedicated parking at the foot
