Gets a 7 for getting me out on a sunny day with wonderful views of Haweswater, Riggindale and Harter Fell's crags. Branstree itself isn't that great but being a platform to look down on lovely Mardale, makes up for it's shortcomings.Started the walk up the Old Corpse Road out of Mardale, bagging Selside Pike and then squelching my way alongside a newish fence. The wettest obstacle was the intriguingly named Captain Whelter Bog. Dropped back down via Gatescarth Pass.

Whilst the rest of England/Wales had wall to wall sunshine, the weather in the Far East Fells was atrocious with rain, clag and 45 mph winds. Six Nuttalls made easy by following a fenceline and good paths. My 2nd concrete ring, but 1st one I am logging. Gifting todays trig to whoever reinstated Blencathra ring (pinched a year or two ago). This is the sign on a BGR to begin the descent of Hall's Fell.

Fresh from a paddle in Mosedale and the sweaty climb past a herd of fallow deer a delight to get the 2nd ring of the walk. Glorious if hazy views on to Haweswater/High Street range.

Bagged as YSM568 Selside Brow. Parked at head of Haweswater and took a killer of a path for 1.2km up to the fence line and then 800m straight up another steep grassy slope to the concrete ring. Tough, very tough, poor Mr U2 had to wait ages for me at the top. Took nearly as long down, Mr U2 ran! Took about 2 hours round trip, never been so happy to reach the car!

Walked up from Mardale CP. on Wainwright day out. Walked back to tick off Branstree after the slog out to Tarn & Grey Crags. Good visibility today but as expected for this time of year, pretty wet under foot. Onwards to Selside Pike and exit off down the Old Corpse Rd.

I didn't even know this was here until we stumbled on it when looking for the path to Selside Pike. Supporting my partner on her quest of doing the Wainwrights. Weather was clag all the way and this was the 3rd top after Grey Crag, Tarn Crag and then Selside Pike after this.

Came to this one via Selside (Wainwright), easy to locate not far in a SW direction from the large Nine Standards type cairns. Great underfoot as frozen and clear air making for fabulous views across to High Street and Helvellyn. Could not bail out as frozen solid!

Walked from Sadgill longsledale climbing Grey Knotts,Tarn Crag,Branstree,Harter Fell,Kentmere Pike and Shipman Knotts,a good 7 hour fellwalk. The ring is in good nick for it's age,not many of these about in the Lakes,makes a good dog bowl also.

Walked up gatesgarth pass from mardale car park, circular concrete ring looks like bird feeder. Fantastic views to high st only goldern eagle in country lives here didnt see it though!

approach from Swindale up the old corpse road and over Sellside on to Branstree's rounded summit passing well built cairns overlooking Hawswater descended down Great Grain Beck into the very remote Mosedale and on to Swindale. Excellent days walking many wild flowers this time of year

Our first ring of the four in the Lakes that we haven't done, (we did Blencathra last year). A good excuse to visit a top that doesn't have a pillar. We parked at Mardale Head and followed the path and fenceline. Good views.

Visited with AH & KM as part of a Nuttalls bagging day. Wlak 7.4 Selside Pik, Branstree and Sleddale Fells. Cloud and drizzle from first top Selside Pike to the end. At the time I was unaware of concrete ring Trig Points or bolts so didn't look for it. Maybe next time

Most recent visit of three, the first being on 03/01/1981. Trig point is an unusual concrete ring. A rounded hill away from popular Lake District haunts.
