Found on side of road a few miles south-east of Dungloe at the side of the R252. Brought a screwdriver with me to open the cap and inside is a 1" bolt.

Non-(re) visit log: this is not a bench mark but an Irish trig station - the trig name, the original 2005 Peregrinus log and photos make it clear what and where the trig is. It seems the Horton in Ribblesdale projecting bracket (which obviously is NOT a trig) was merged with this page at some point. That excellent BM should be logged at www.bench-marks.org.uk/bm1424 - not on TPUK

Was in Horton to help on a Three Peaks event so had to do something between the competitors starting and getting back. So the opportunity to visit this unique bracket - well I have never seen one like it before - was just too good not to miss. Have often driven by so it was also an opportunity to visit this lovely church too.

Visited this one on a round trip starting at Kirkby Lonsdale, passing through Dent and the Ribblehead viaduct. An interesting trig, first one I have seen on a church (apparently churches and other buildings were used for triangulation and are marked accordingly on the older Pathfinder OS maps, I am in the process of investigating 2 in Kent). Lovely old church in attractive surroundings. Well that's the Easter weekend over, the finest Easter weather I can remember, and here we are 250 miles North of home !

I think i found something of interest on the SW tower on the way in on the righthand side is i think is an OS pointed bracket used in the early leveling jobs before trig stations must be rare now 100yrs old? Also there is a cut benchmark on the left hand side of door. Both the bracket and benchmark are just below the bevelled stone course.Nice old church this often visit churches whilst out walking to photo stained glass windows.
