Parked at Wet Sleddale reservoir (free). Three Birketts and a damaged concrete ring on Seat Robert. Very parky and icy wind blowing in so aborted attempt of any further Birketts from this valley. Walked past Sleddale Hall which was used in the film "Withnail and I". No longer derelict. Gifted to the other folks who were out today collecting trigs. Just another day.

Gruelling walk through the slow monotony of fell from Keld (off road parking just in access land), slowly the walk becomes ever more ruggedly beautiful. On to grab the "Sweats" of Branstree and Selside then back via beautiful Swindale. A long hot walk.

Easy spot, exposed and very close to the high point of the hill. The concrete ring, its base and the bolt, as a composite unit, have become detached from the ground. It also has a pronounced tilt to it. Useless from a functional perspective, hence damaged.

Stunning day, nice covering of snow on this little hill and vast views across to the Pennines, down to the Howgills and across the eastern lakeland fells. Thick inversion fog in the Eden valley making for lovely views.

Visited Seat Robert whilst on a Wainwright Outlying Fells walk with my walking group - The Irregulars, LDWA. Came up from Swindale Foot via Langhowe Pike, and Great Ladstone. Then continued on to Fewling Stones, High Wether Howe, Howes and Nabs Crag before dropping back down to Swindale Foot via Forces Falls. A walk I would recommend to anyone particularly on a day when the weather was so good! As someone has already mentioned the concrete is cracked and the ring is moveable. A lovely surprising, to me, find.
