Nice big brass bolt. The 1984 OS South Pennines map seems to be the only one showing a trig type triangle here. It doesn't have a height shown which usually suggests there is no actual trig pillar. I included this point in the South Pennine 39 Trigs challenge some years ago which included all the trigs shown on the 1984 map (only 31 of the triangles are actually trig pillars). I guess this bolt must be an OS mapping point as it has the bench mark style arrow engraved on it and looks like others I have seen on this website. It can be found about a mile north of the White House pub just off the track across Chelburn Moor which takes the Pennine Way north towards Stoodley Pike. There has been some kind of concrete structure here which has mostly gone now. The only things remaining are flat slabs of concrete near the catchment drain and what appear to be the bases of three concrete pillars with the steel reinforcement sticking out of the top. These can be seen from the track up to your right after the rocky outcrop just before the track bends to the right to run alongside Light Hazzles Reservoir. These reservoirs now supply drinking water but were built to supply the Rochdale Canal in the valley below. I was there fairly late in the afternoon and the light was poor so my photos are not brilliant. ADDED 02-01-07: Now we have access to all the OS Trigs & BMs I now know this is a genuine OS bolt and its Station Number is T085. (
