About 10 years too late to see this one. The OSnet coordinate file at BIGF gives the location of the former station AMBE as 337520.668,504739.418 Grey day but the rain holding off. Ambleside very busy today.

on police station next to fire station. My GPS position is different (100m +) to that given NY3739004720 which is in the middle of the recreation ground adjacent. update:passing on 22 Nov 2015. Active station now removed, fire station remains but police house empty

Passed it on way to do Fairfield Horseshoe (+ Stone Arthur) ... lots of Wainwrights to bag (9) but no trigs on the circuit (assuming there's not a ring-trig hidden under a cairn, Cross Fell style). Darkenss falling by the time we came back through Ambleside.

Must of seen this one 100 times whilst doing wainwrights 214 challenge which me and my young mate compleated together in october 2010.Celebrated on 16th by climbing Jacks rake whilst doing langdale pikes round,finished off wainwright style with the best fish and chips in Ambleside across from the little cinema!

excellent parking with public convenience walked over bridge and into rescue/police car park views limited Trig on end of police station building returned via same route about 100 yards total walk time 1 minute not a great challenge ! getting refreshments and newspaper took a bit longer 2 minutes,visited on route to Harter Fell.
