(3) I was aware of this one prior to getting into this hobby. Not sure If I ever saw whilst it was accessible. Others I was working with at the time did see it. As previous logs have noted, this is now next to impossible to view, due to the covering slab being sealed in place with tarmac/tar.

Bad news. The slab has now been embedded in a new tarmac surround and had tar sealant applied. Can no longer lift it with just a spade. It may be possible to get the slab up with effort but to put it back down and leave it in an appropriate condition for the footpath/cycleway would be impossible. We left it and now mark it as inaccessible.

Found in the pavement at brough of the hill. The surface block is under a slab and despite reading other comments, forgot to take something to lift it with, the slab was stuck fast.

Also logged as YSM362. Glad I read the previous logs and took a screwdriver with me to lift the slab.

I parked about 70 feet away and was glad I'd brought 2 big screwdrivers with me as the covering slab can't be lifted with fingers alone. A bright clear October day with great views over the hedge to the west

We pulled off the road into the entrance to a field just a few yards to the south of the Bolt’s location. The cover obviously hadn’t been disturbed for some time and I needed a couple of tools from the car in order to prise the quite heavy slab of stone out of it’s recess in the cycle track. Tyrolean Maid held the slab up while I took a photo. A couple more photo’s with the slab back in place and we’d done the biz. Not much in the way of views and the road is quite busy. A note for future visitors... You won’t get the slab up with your fingers or a stick out of the hedge... you’ll need a big screwdriver at least.

(206) Good find by Brisey... Nice and quiet day today. Didn't quite expect such a large bolt though

A block named School Top is listed in the OS trig marks database, and a bolt in this block is listed in the OS bench marks database. The description of the latter helped me find this one, although it is no longer to the NE of the footpath as stated. The footpath has been widened to include a cycle way and surprisingly, the block and its bolt were simply covered by a stone slab set into the cycle way. This was easy to prise up to reveal them. The school referred to is now Tollbar Business and Enterprise College. Don't visit at school start and finish times!
