Fascinating journey out of the edges of Burslem and Hanley, through the Queen of the Moorlands and then - very excited to find my first Staffs active station. Absolute peach of a place - Gun and the Roach somber one side the brows of the moors above Longnor and Elkstone opposite. Been away from the southern edges of the Peak for too long, next stop a trig pillar!

This is an active station as described on gps.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/active.asp The station is located on the SW side of a minor road between Thorncliffe and Blackshaw Moor. Its in a secure fenced enclosure next to Thorncliffe reservoir and is easily visible from the road. One unusual feature is that, instead of being located on the roof of a building, the device is on the top of a tall metal tripod.
