Our highest score ever for an active station: in a fascinating harbour, and the building it's on is pretty eccentric. Village very quiet late on a winter aternoon.

Early January is the perfect time to visit the stunning village of St Abbs - you can park anywhere you like and you have the entire harbour and piers completely to yourself! It won't be like this in summer holidays, that's for sure...

Beautiful St Abbs. After the obligatory Cullen Skink a walk to beautiful Coldingham Bay. Usually go to St Abbs Head but the whole coast is glorious. Plus a hello to Jocks Nose...

What an exciting visit to St Abbs with the waves pounding the harbour walls and sending sparkling sprays of sea-water crashing towards us. Naturally, got a soaking; the Life-Boat Station & Active Station withstanding all that the sea could throw at them. Then up to the superb Old School Cafe for some home-made Cullen skink - what could be better? Memorable visit.

Opportune dive down to the harbour after the Vodafone telesalesgirl distracted us from the required left turn a few miles previous. Unlike frugal Dougal we spent a total of 5 minutes and zero pounds down here. Though, would actually be interested in a proper stop over at the bunkhouse, and, maybe a boat trip out to the nearby stacks if doable.

Easy to spot on top of the lifeboat station. St Abbs harbour is lovely on a sunny February afternoon when theres not many folks about - its probably not so pleasant when theres loads of tourists around! Worth walking along the cliff path up to the lighthouse as well - its a great walk and plenty of seabirds to look at. High marks for the scenery - the active isnt terribly exciting.

Berwickshire. This active station is on the current OS database and was easily spotted on the roof of the lifeboat station, which sits in a commanding position in the middle of the picturesque harbour at St Abbs.

Lovely setting for this active station on the lifeboat station in the harbour of St. Abbs. Visited on a beautiful spring day, in the late afternoon sunshine, with the harbour to ourselves, before walking along the cliff path to see thousands of guillemots and a few dozen fulmars. Simply wonderful!
