OS simply states "Height to bolt in block", well this small square metal plate is absolutely nothing like the usual OS bolt. However, I'll go along with this being the trig, but I have a nagging feeling that it may not be, despite being in the right place.

Very nice views from here. First time I have logged something that was not a pillar. I came here on a geocaching mission and I wasn't sure I would find anything up here to log as a trig point but I walked to the dot on the map and was happy to spot the surface block.

Small concrete block with 2.5" square steel plate. No punch mark, just a vague central depression. Not seen one like it before.

Having just scattered my mother's ashes at the crematorium I needed something to clear my head and a brisk wask up Mynydd Rudry was just the job.

The trig, ST07 T184, is situated amongst the small rocky outcrops on top of a grassy hill to the east of Caerphilly. Access to the hill top is across the common land from the nearby car park to the south. The trig consists of a three inch square headed bolt set in the top of a ten inch square concrete block standing a couple of inches proud of ground level. There is a fine view over Caerphilly, its castle and the neighbouring valleys. Higher mountains can be seen in the distance to the north and the River Severn in the distance to the east.
