I'd previously visited on 16/11/2011 but it was too dark then to find the bolt. No problems today however as it was a perfect calm sunny day. Was on my way home after cycling to Kinmel Bay to collect some maps bought on eBay. All healthy fun for a Sunday afternoon in January.

In the area looking for benchmarks so I had a quick search for this. It was easy to find after a nice walk along the coastal path from Rhyl.

The trig, SD30/T362, consists of a one inch diameter round headed bolt set into the centre of a 7 foot square concrete block next to a corner of the sea defences of Kinmel Bay, between Rhyl and Abergele. The bolt was computed in 1956. The site was reached by walking along the sea wall from the west. The immediate vicinity of the trig is not particularly inspiring as it consists of rough grassland and caravan parks stretching back to the railway line. The off shore wind farms can be seen to the north. The coast line stretches from the Little Orme in the west to the sea front of Rhyl in the east. The peaks of Snowdonia could be seen in the distance to the south west and the Clwydian Range provides a back drop to the south east.
