Walk along the South Downs Way and Wealdway (Southease to Berwick) with the vegan hiking group. Lovely and windswept with cracking views and no rain until the last ten mins when it fell down. Wonderful views from this hilltop plus added bonus of long barrow and random carved stone. Well worth the treck up here.

Parked in Bopeep carpark and then walked up the gentle slopes to the summit and trigpoint with Helen & Molly. Superb views across the fields to Arlington Reservoir inland and also towards Newhaven Harbour and the sea. 3 Wheatears seen on the fences.

Drive up Firle Bostal to the top of the Downs where good parking can be had a little over a mile to the west of the trig. Then a pleasant walk along the South Downs Way, weather lovely and bright today with gentle breezes. Pillar is in good conditions and excellent 360 views.

Early morning on the S Downs. Walked through fields of cows and bullocks (and bull which I only saw on way back) from car park to W. TP in vgc with original cap and OS plaque; in small hollow next to tumulus. Extensive views to N and S - morning mist still to burn off. Skylarks. Sheep bleating.

The farmer was mowing the grass around the trig point for some reason. Opposite weather to Stonestreaker - hot, hot, hot: 35 degrees.

night bagging along the ridge from the car park on the ridge. stayed in the camper for the night, the couldn't get down as the frost was as thick as anything- had to wait 2 hours for it to thaw!

Just off the footpath and set on a concrete plinth, this has stunning views in all directions. GPS plaque. Metal plug with lightly indented lettering.

This trigpoint is located about one mile from the nearest car park and on this occasion was uphill into a strong westerly wind. But it was worthwhile, and the return journey was of course downhill out of the wind. Firle Beacon is one of the highest points locally and has fine views in all directions. The local terrain is covered in various pits, barrows and tumuli. The pillar is in good condition, although there is the usual erosion around the base which is to be expected at such a popular location.
