Approached from footpath from east at corner of road. Couldn’t see pillar from footpath. Fields were covered in ripening wheat crop so didn’t walk through. Opening on south of footpath about 100 metres from east end of footpath. Hugged field boundary through tall weeds to southern field edge next field had young corn crop. Pillar visible about two hundred metres towards south west. Walked along field boundary to closest point and stepped over crop avoiding any damage. Could be tricky in a month or so. Good views towards The Swale to south and west. OS plaque in place.

Not many views on this grizzly day! Definitely best to approach from the right angle bend in road footpath. The one near the pub means tramping right across a field which today was incredibly wet. The oath from the RH bend allows you to follow field edges most of the way. Today the field the pillar is in is awaiting attention so no crops to damage.

The pillar is in excellent condition, and has a superb view across to the northern side of the Isle of Sheppey and back to the rest of Kent. A little bit tricky to reach the site as the public rights of way are unclear around here.

Parked at start of a RoW at 90deg bend in road to NE. RoW initially then field boundaries, then tractor lines through a barley crop to trig. Big patch of some leafy weed unknown to me was completely obscuring the pillar, but easy to clear it away with secateurs. Original top cap has been retained, lightly indented lettering; all sight holes open. 360deg views, better to S & SE to Isle of Harty.

Looks like the best approach is from the footpath to the North then left at first field junction then right at the next - Pillar is located in field to left of that field edge unfortunatley the field is currently full of 5 foot high wet Oil Seed Rape, which would be virtually impossible to get through - GPS suggests it is 130m out in the field, felt tresspassy too - will return. Certainly Inaccessilbe at the moment.

Near enough the highest point on the Isle of Sheppey (there is a spot height 1 metre higher close by). Views to Kent in the south and Essex to the north. Our resolve almost failed when it came to visiting this one as it is in the middle of agricultural land with no public rights of way. Fortunately our local trig point guide, Julie from Faversham, had more steely resolve and we eventually reached it after negotiating wheat fields, barbed wire fences and freshly cut oil seed rape. There was a makeshift flag next to the trig which must have been put there by the farmer so that he wouldn't hit it accidentally whilst cutting the rape. GPS plaque, plug with indented lettering.
