The site of the trig is on top of a hill on the southern fringe of Ilfracombe. It was reached by walking up from the town through the maze of partly overgrown footpaths in the Victorian woodland Nature Reserve on the slopes of the hill. The flagstaff was apparently destroyed in a gorse fire in 1995. The remains of the base of the flagstaff are behind a bench near the toposcope on top of the hill. There is a fine view over llfracombe and Torrs Park and across the sea to Wales.

SS72 T079 Flagstaff. Also Block at this location. I have only added this trigpoint as the location offers a great view over the town. The flagstaff has long gone but its concrete base survives. From the look of it, there have been more than one flagstaff fixed to this base. The Pleasure Grounds or Victorian Park are being brought back to life and the walk up to the location is quite interesting.

Agree with Dusty, this is a very interesting place to visit even though we could only find the Flagstaff base. Great views!
