Third of the 'Sapperton 4'. Had the OS sketch with me, but in the event, just took 13 paces from the FBM and attacked the fast growing thorn hedge from the road (much easier than trying it from the gas compound perimeter fence). It will be increasingly difficult to locate this trig as the hedge grows, but at present it's slightly easier than it was yesterday thanks to my trusty secateurs! More a surface block than rivet, perhaps the ellipsoid profile of the rivet head, noted by CJO below, differentiates it?

Measured 13 paces up road and partially hidden in hawthorn was the block. The Gas service yard behind has a large PIG injection point (complete with airlocks) to allow for equipment to be inserted into the pipeline for servicing.

Sapperton Gas Compound more a bolt than a rivet. Note the slightly elipsoid nature rather than domed.

Revisit to find the rivet. I tried sneaking along behind the hedge by the fence - could see but not reach. I then took the frontal approach which worked. I cleared a small amount of soil.

Revisited the site of Sapperton FBM to photograph C1SO9502 (Passive station rivet, 13.37m ENE of FBM). Easily found by 13 paces up road from FBM and delving into hawthorn hedge on bank. Slightly covered with soil which was easily moved with shoe. Not at all inspiring but at least I found it! GPS position given to nearest 10m (difficult reception in the hawthorn hedge!)

Rivet of about 2cm diameter set into a concrete block 13 meters from a FBM on a small boundary bank between a minor road and a gas compound. The bank has been planted with a hawthorn hedge. It was hiding under some dead leaves and a thin layer of soil and was found with the aid of the OS sketch and by prodding with a tent peg.

Re-visited the FBM to log the OS Passive Station C1SO9502, which is 13.37m ENE of the FBM. Bizarrely a hawthorn hedge has been planted (as seen in the OS photo), so it is getting difficult to access. Delved into hedge from road, the rivet was covered with soil, but easy to find. I left it clear. No change in the condition of the FBM - always nice to see an intact height tag.

Rivet. 13.37m ENE of FBM. 20p to size rivet.
