Branched off A619 to layby in joining road and walked through Heather. Trig barely recognisable as a trig. The first cylindrical trig point I have come across, spider missing and top crumbling. Overall short, disappointing visit but another one in the bag.

Visited whist on trip up to Scarborough with family on delayed Xmas present Trig trip off eldest daughter. Spider gone now top pieces strewn around the pillar.

Short walk fro parking on minor road. This seems to be one of two built for RAF Fylingdales. Not sure why but all the Thor nuclear missile bases in England usually had two specially built trigs (Project Emily). Never seen one like this before. Very badly damaged now. Go and visit before they vanish forever. Great views over the radar installation.

Parked on the road to the south west, and then walked up to the Trig. Visited after stopping off to have a look around Goathland, where the TV series Heartbeat was filmed. Some of the outer casing of the trig has fallen away, and what is left is badly cracked

Certainly interesting. The top can be lifted off, the weathering has damaged it so much. My pre planning was ruined by app fails today so we thought we were somewhere else for a while! Fortunately Bob worked it out...

A quick bag of a very unusual trig type. Parked in a lay-by and skipped through barely 100m of heather to reach it. It's a concrete pipe set on end and filled with concrete and then has had a spider affixed. The outer pipe has cracked presumably due to weathering and the pieces are at the foot of the pillar. Very interesting bag, and as it's not on OS 1:25k maps I wouldn't have known about it if it weren't for this site.

The second of this type, presumably specially constructed for... what? Possibly linked to the Snod Hill BMEWS site. It's all falling apart, and is in a worse state than the Aux 1 that's 3.25km to the W, with the top section containing the spider completely detached from the pillar.

I spotted the pillar, if that's the right term for a concrete pipe, when I parked on the nearby road to watch Flying Scotsman on the NYMR in the valley below. I came back later to properly visit it.

A short walk from the road, a bleak location in horizontal rain. Views over to the Fylingdales sandcastle & across the moors

Easy parking on the hard standing just past the cattle grid then a short walk to the pillar. The section of concrete pipe that forms the outer layer of the pillar is cracked and broken but it’s still standing. No flush bracket but the spider is in place and retains its original plug. Views are ok if you like open moor land. Fylingdales is visible on the horizon.

Standard OS spider, plug without inscription, drainpipe badly cracked. A few more winters and it could collapse. Aux2 is close to the mid-point between Aux1 and the Simon Howe pillar; presumably these three stations were used as a base line.

Scored this one a 7 because this is the first trig of this type that I have found ! Also its my 100th trig find :-) Looks like it is made from a concrete pipe with the spider and plug concreted in to the top !

This is my 100th find ! This is also the first trig i have found of this type, i will have to go visit Aux 1 soon.
Rocky says NOT ANOTHER trig !

Parked at the turn off and had an ice cream from the van! Easy walk down the road and across the heather for 30m or so...2 big chunks out of it now...shoddy workmanship! Unsure but guess this has something to do with RAF Fylingdales.

Easy roadside bag. Easily spotted if you park in the layby and follow the road a few metres away from the junction.

A recent addition to the TPUK web site – wonder why I’ve not noticed it before during lots of trips along this road. This addition now means that I’ve got to venture out onto the moors again to get Louven Howe Aux 1. Parked within 50 yards – no problems except the sodden heather.

Easy find with a pull in on the minor road just off the Pickering road. Cracks like it's sibling and a large chunk out of the top which is lying nearby. I wonder if there are any more around?
