Good tracks, then fire break and open forest.saw several deer. Suspect this was an air navigation marker for Tain.

From NH 66765 77852. Good foresty tracks to NH 68490 78560 then fire break to top of Cnoc an t-Sabhail. Continued S on wide break increasingly becoming clogged with self-seeded conifers. Pole looks in good condition, part wood, part metal construction. Wonder who used it?

Parking - N57° 46.219' W4° 14.522' Plan A was to walk to a trig on Boxing Day but the weather didn't look favourable so we decided today was the day. Cnoc An T- Sabhail (S1815) was Plan B but after someone got out of the wrong side of the bed physically and mentally we ended up in the car park for Scotsburn Navigation Pole! Well it is also called Cnoc An T- Sabhail on the map which is all very confusing, that's Mrs TJR excuse anyway! We then started along the drovers trail when we should have kept on the main track! Mr TJR did point this out but was given a stern talking to and told "no it's straight on along the river". Back on the main track we'd now added another 1.5km on to the trip which in the end was around 9.5km. We took the main track all the way to the top and found a fire break which we headed up and took a right towards the pole. Once at the top we spotted 3 more fire breaks and took one of them down to the main track, much less boggy than the one we took up but does have some small trees growing in it so it will be tree filled eventually. Great to see another different type of trig, shame it's not a pillar to add to this years tally ;-) Firebreak - N57° 46.172' W4° 11.861'

I do like a trig that is a wee bit different so when I saw this one, I had to go and have a look. From the parking on the FCS car park on the Struie Road, I followed the really good FCS track for just under 6km, which looped a bit. Then followed a fire break from the main track for aprox 600m. You can't see it from the track but it's an old structure made of wood, held up by rusty wires. Around 20m in height. No electronics on this. It's in the middle of a circular clearing which has 4 wider than normal fire breaks leading to it. Interesting to know if this was put in place before the forest was planted or vice versa. I'll need to do a bit of investigation on this one but probably was a marker for the bombing range at Tain
