Prominent from the valley floor and from Thorpe Fell it's hazy profile reminded me of something out of Monument Valley USA. Had a dryish walk direct from Thorpe Fell passing the parish boundary marker. On reaching the top, the wind was so strong I couldn't stand up on the NW side The obelisk is.superbly sited and a fitting tribute to the local men who paid the ultimate sacrifice. Walked back NE by the wall to reach a stile and then dropped down to Thorpe Lane which has great views.

Solo. Parked in a lay-by on the B6265 just north of Rylstone village (SD 96926 58738). Then a clockwise round. Chapel Lane to Cracoe village. Fell Lane to Cracoe fell and then Obelisk. I was unable to locate a track from the end of Fell Lane to the Obelisk, making this section extremely difficult to walk (but it was extremely easy to navigate)! Then followed the wall to Rylstone Cross. Finally down Sun Moor Hill back to car.
