Nice walk up from turning circle area being logged at the moment but quiet today. Bolt in rock easily found also another survey marker. Good views here already very warm and sunny and no wind,

Eighth of 15 today. Really easy find - wasn't expecting the orange marker to be so big and obvious! I think I really lucked out here as the weather conditions were horrendous, would not have been fun trying to find this without the details and photos provided below. A revisit on a better day essential I think!

A stunning hill, often seen on motorway journeys, used to dismiss it as part quarried but the presence of basalt makes this a strange looking hill and indeed ancient place. Solway coast and the edges of Northumbria and Cumbria despite the gloom. Off to see thousands of geese at Caerlaverock afterwards.

Been wanting to do this hill for years. Didn't disappoint. Approached from the south via Axletreewell and the FBM. Enough parking at the end of the road. Easy pull up on to the summit. Bolt a couple of metres north of the orange marker. With CJ.

Parked at Tundergarth Church, from where hill is signposted. Second signpost had fallen over and was pointing skyward, so just followed gates to near top, without any trouble. Took a good bit of rooting around to find bolt as well buried under thick carpet of moss, but sunny day so quite enjoyable - first real test for new etrex 30 and its Russian satellites.
