Revisit walked up from Crosswaite church on paths eventually leading to gates which allowed assess to the fell without climbing fences. Dug out the cover plate to view the station bolt on my only ever find of this type of station. Great views now as the sun burns off the mist seen about 10 deer on the way down.

The ~4" dia disc is firmly attached to a cover which sounds hollow when tapped. The bolt is presumably under this. Easily found. The site is clear of bracken. Nice spot.

Second of these I've seen I think, no tools to look for bolt under the metal cover. Up from Crosthwaite school approx as chrisb. here for p30m summit, bonus trig

Well spotted Painterman! Given this a 10 because I wasn't looking for it (just visiting hill), never seen one like this before and my GR agreed to all ten-figures - only second time that's ever happened! Why do other folk's GR figures disagree so much for this trig? Cast iron disc about 5-6" dia with raised letters. Have only ever seen one Bernsten before (Greetland FBM Aux1) and apart from similar diameter it didn't look at all like this; that one was cast aluminium, indented letters and had a couple of screws on the top. Thought maybe cap screwed off but couldn't move it. At first sight seemed an odd place to put it, in slight grassy col between two rocky areas; but then of course it would be easier to drill a hole to put it in! Nearby summit had flowers laid out for someone...

Fences make this access land very inaccessible. A fine hill.

Good find painterman61 Cows stopped me going up painterman route but I managed to get on the fell from a track above Crosthwaite church climbing up on good paths between the gorse and rocky outcrops onto Hemp Rake then over to Hollow Stones, lovely area for walking only problem is gaining access to access land its not always obvious and farm fields without rights of way can be tricky

Last of day first ever time walking in the lyth valley parked near to gate on right side of fell felt like scotland with all the gorse in flower. Was all ready for walking off cursing my luck when i could not find a bolt, however i was just leaving and found a witness mark arrow on a small limestone block i followed the arrow and found a hole which contained a small bertsten type os station never seen one so small or so high before it is located in the middle of the two high spots one has a little cairn great views and terrain here will have to return again.
