Enjoyed a very pleasant walk to Roova Crag from the village of West Scrafton. The weather was near perfect with excellent visibility across to the Teeside conurbation and the Survey Bolt was an easy find. I was also enthralled by the construction nearby Shooting House and the metal Compass set into a Sandstone slab

Gentle ascent of Great Haw from West Scrafton on wonderfully sunny, but blustery,Spring afternoon.Returned via Great Roova Crags as I had spotted pillar on map. This was not, though, showing on my android App,which is now,for some reason, only showing pillarsWas therefore lucky to find bolt..Grand views.

Walked up from West Scrafton. Bolt easy to find on a large gritsone outcrop... as described already by Ted. Lovely views over Coverdale. The crags are fascinating. A little gem this one.

a stone sink near bolt, cracked during quarrying, so abandoned

Not a pillar. This is a small bolt on the highest gritstone boulder above Great Roova Crags.

Large bolt in middle of gritstone outcrop roughly mid-way between the cairn and the shooting hut. The bolt has 4 small rivets (witness marks, I assume) surrounding it at a distance of approx 1 metre. Mild day with good views across Coverdale.

Walked up the track from West Srafton expecting a trig point as per the 1:25 000 OS Explorer Map but no trig point - just a small cairn of rocks. When I logged it on here though I see this website has it down as a bolt - presumably the bolt is underneath the rocks ? If you look on the 1:50 000 OS maps there is indeed no trig point marked. A good walk nonetheless up past the old West Scrafton Colliery and back along the moor boundary towards Great Groova Crags and back down to West Scrafton.

Well this was a strange one for me was looking at the OS 1:25.000 map when i spotted a trig symbol,so i set off looking for a trig, but could only find a nice cairn it may be there but i wasnt looking for it! Ascended from West Scrafton on PROW which gave to moor, nice rocky fell this worth walking too theres even a shooters lodge built into the rock at the top great views from here as well.
