Parked in entrance to burial site. Short walk along field boundary and trig point is just before you get to the water tank thing. Almost hiding in hedge, had to trim back a bit to take photos.

Hiked up from Wixall. An easy bag, but you could miss it if you don't dig deep behind the tree. There is a concrete platform in front of it with a lot of overgrowth. At first you would think the pillar is missing from atop it. But search behind the tree in 5ft growth, and you will find it. Views are nothing to get excited at. Someone has tried to prize the spider off and damaged the pillar. The plug is missing.

Parked on the road near Fields Farm. Took the public right of way into the field where the pillar is located, and walked the hedge line up to the pillar. The plug is missing from the spider/ theodolite mount. Needed to clear the pillar of a lot of foliage. 7 of 15 on my 15 trig Nantwich/Whitchurch day

HISTORY: Pillar built in November 1943, cost not on record. Computed as secondary triangulation station SJ44/1 within the Shrewsbury block during 1948. Levelled for height to Class 1 tertiary standards in 1969. Last maintained by the OS in November 1972. SITE VISIT: Pillar to NE side of road behind hedge. Parked in gateway opposite trig. Approached via RoW to NW then up along back of hedge to pillar. Column in fair condition. Spider contains grey plastic disc fitted by Jon Rouse, 28/07/2002. Flush bracket faces northeast away from road, compass measurement 35°. Vented through NW sight hole. Limited open outlook due to adjacent shrubbery.

A shy trig indeed. Initially parked on the other side of the hedge to it but then realised there was far better parking to the west, near the entrance to the field. Went through the gate and up the field edge to the trig point. Thanks to whoever cleared a path to it. Some slight damage to the spider as a result of hedge trimming I guess.

Just happened to be passing by along the lane on a geocaching trail with friends, one of whom thankfully was using a GPS with OS mapping - and therefore could make us aware of this hidden-away trig point! Managed to battle through the overgrown hedge from the lane to get a photo of the trig point, but wasn't able to get into the field for hopefully a better photo.

over the canteliever bridge. went with secateurs and had a damn good hack.. might I say I've made it a lot easier for you to get at it now.. so get in there. the hedge trimmers have had a darn fine chew at the top and indeed the spider. I bet the tractor driver had kittens when he didnt see her. its a reasonable view.. just dont get a spiky thorn in your tush.

While Geocaching in the area I discovered this pillar. On my return to HQ I did a little research and discovered Trigpointing !! easy enough to get to the pillar, but it's the last few feet that are the problem.

Bagged this on 03/07/2013 after walking up and down an out-of-control hedge for ages. Was eventually discovered between a round concrete structure and the hedge row. The top is slightly damaged, probably by a tractorised hedge strimmer. Returned on 17/07/2013 with secateurs and cleared away the abundance of ivy, brambles, etc. before it descended into total obscurity.

Soon discovered this wasn't accessible from the road, although I could just see its outline in the hedgerow. Entered the field at the nearby stile and strolled over to GZ. Pillar is quite buried in the hawthorn hedge, near to a concrete structure the purpose for which I was unable to discern. Nothing remarkable in the views available.

Yet another Shropshire trig-in-a-hedge. Top with spider flush with the top of the hedge. A mile further along the road, the bascule bridge over the Shropshire Union Canal was raised to let a couple of barges pass.

Walked along the field boundary To the high point where a stone stucture is situated, the trig is off one corner inbedded in the hedge.

Walked to here from the Llangollen canal whilst on a narrowboat holiday.Surrounded on three sides by a hedge, barely visible from the road. Accessed by a stile and walk parallel to road, about one minute walk.

My first trig by canal boat! En route from Wrenbury to Llangollen so nipped off on my bike to find this one. In a very thorny hedge that is quite overgrown now. Impossible to access direct from road. Walk to field corner to the west and access from there. Difficult to climb on top of it without cutting yourself as I did.

Just off a lane - enter the field just past the trig on a footpath and then walk along the hedge to where the pillar is squeezed between the hedge and a concrete structure. Plastic plug replacement. W sighthole open, the others closed. Traces of white paint. There are distant views W/NW, otherwise bushes obscure the scenery. The western edge of the top face has been knocked off, presumably by hedge-clipping machinery.

Roadside but over the hedge in a corner made by a concrete tank. A gap in the hedge allows easy access to the trig which is in a field . A corner has been chipped off, MacConnells finest again I expect. Plastic insert.
