Bolt is a bit mashed up but would seem to be perfectly functional. Located on an outcrop 15-20m E of summit cairn.

Revisited en route from some other islands. Easily found having seen Ed's log. 0.5m SW of highest point of rock slab 10m E of summit cairn. Bolt with head sheared off just above top of shank.

Gps said just east of summit cairn. A few rock slabs but couldn't spot bolt and was more intenjt on bagging the island's six "P30m" summits. Fine summit, great island. St Magnus Bay Charters, group charter. Nearly didn't make it when throttle linkage fell off. Brian Ewing improvised a repair with a vice wrench!

Trip out to Vementry Isle from Aith Marina with Victor Gray of St Magnus Bay Charters. Landing on his floating pier at the head of Northra Voe it was a short huff n puff up the hill to the spectacular chambered cairn at the summit. About 10 metres east of the cairn is a set of rocks; on the SE corner a small half-inch piece of metal sits almost flush with the rock. I am fairly sure this is the shaft of the OS bolt, however the exposed end is rough - has the top sheared off? Great views of Muckle Roe, Papa Stour & Papa Little. On my return to Aith Marina another boatman showed off an OS-type bolt he had apparently picked up loose on the ground in the NE of Noss Isle, however a search of the OS BM & trig database brought up nothing for Noss except the pillar. I was then invited to Victor's house nearby for tea & biscuits, in the shadow of The Dudd (TP6377) which was the next trig on my list!
