Quick stop at Gretna on the way down to York. Beautifully cold crisp and frosty day with a bit of freezing fog, very atmospheric.

Finally did the slow cruise past that has been begging a hundred times over ...I guesstimate the location to be just west of the A75 northbound sliproad.

gps indicated I got within 75 feet - about where the lamppost is in the photo. Although a few more vertical feet required as its a cutting.

Not sure if this one was bagged by the shopping mall or the A74(M). Turns out that one of the first Scottish features of the northbound hardshoulder is the site of this dearly departed trig pillar. Requiescat sub asphalt.

The site. It was just up the road, 80m beyond the Welcome to Scotland sign where the hard shoulder is now.©fasgadh
